Will Black Mesa replace Half Life 1 for you?

Half-life will be kept in my heart for nostalgic purposes(or i am running it on an old computer), but Black Mesa is the one i will play.

That’s the same as for me

I should answer the question myself. . .

hmmm. Nothing is being replaced because I never played Half Life more than once. An excellent title to be sure, but I don’t imagine I’ll ever play BM more than once either. If anything, HL2 benchmarked my Valve “career” when I played it through twice, and then the beginning sequence several dozen times, because of it’s sheer awesomeness and atmosphere.

If I didn’t already have a backlog of games to play, I’d imagine I’d be replaying HL2 a lot, just because I think it’s that awesome. Now because I do have a backlog of games that I haven’t played (that I own), I can’t afford to spend more than one playthrough on a game. Unless I’m bored and want to replay it, just to see if a second playthrough is just as fun as the first.

For the record, Red Steel was just as fun the second time as it was the first. Many people absolutely detest this game, but I had fun with it, twice-through. Maybe, I’m just that weird.

yeah it will replace Half-Life 1 for me for sure!

This reminds me my friend when he told me that half-Life 1 has no “story”(for him aka graphics ) … when he heard about BM … he wanted to play it right away.

I am quite sure, that you will not mess it up in the end and disappoint us
even the (old, but still EPIC) trailer just keeps sending goosebumps down my back

The dev team is actually quite incompetent.

it will… if will be ever relased!

It will be released.

Definitely.

Not any more! I’ll play both at the same time.

Well HL1 has mods and BMS is hl1 just better…

I don’t know… oh, I don’t own Half-Life! oh well, problem solved!

Then what are you doing on these forums?

You disgust me, fiend.

For me, it depends how close it actually is to the original game. If it’s near identical, then it probably would. I like my iCandy.

As much as I love HL1, if he gameplay is there I’ll be drawn to BM mostly due to the look of it.

I hate the way many games have gone the way of “graphics over gameplay” yet who can deny a good looking game with awesome gameplay  Once I’ve sampled a game thats graphically superior to another I find it hard to get into the original game as much of the atmosphere isn’t there (I’m talking about mods, or remakes etc, not completely different games  )

I actually hope it gives me that same feeling I got when I first played HL1. Before that I wasn’t a fan of FPS’s. A buddy of mine let me try it on his computer in '99 and bought it the next day. From what I’ve seen so far, BM will remind me why I became a FPS and Half Life fan to begin with.

black mesa is probaly gonna replace hl1 for me but ill never forget half life and maybe play it after i have done black mesa (if it ever comes out)

Interesting, very interesting…

wouldn’t be much of a point to this mod if it was just a 1:1 remake would there
