The reviews that websites like ign and gamespot do are for professional videogames, the kind that you pay for. Black mesa is free, so there obviously isn’t any need for a review. Plus the reviews that they give are horribly curved, no “triple A” title ever gets less than maybe a 7 or an 8, in fact there have been incidents in the past where the publisher would attempt to bribe reviewers for good scores.

Back in my Quake III days we were actively looking for bugs up to v. 1.26 in order to exploit these bugs in tournaments. It wasn’t nearly as much fun as simply playing the game with 5 sixpacks…
I wouldn’t want Black Mesa early. I wouldn’t be able to talk about it and that would tear me up. I want it when it’s released for everyone. I can wait.
