Will Black Mesa be Released Early to Reviewers?

Hi!

I’ve been following the mod for a few months now and I know the procedure for it being released and everything but I just had one question. Will the team be distributing early copies to websites such as IGN or other sites to do reviews for the mod if they ask? I realize why they wouldn’t though since there’s a risk of it being leaked early. But I’m sure there are sites that would like to do a review of it. Maybe not IGN since they don’t do mods but who knows? This mod’s gotten a lot of publicity so they might just ask for one. I know how careful the team is being and I respect any wishes they have on this topic.

Thank you! And have a very safe, and productive day.

NO.

when it’s done

I pretty damn fkn sure this game is much more than a regular simple mod - we should consider it as a fully-fledged game even thought it’s not a standalone title.

im a reviewer in the confined spaces of my bedroom.

so if this is the case. ill let you all know how it went.

/end of line

No. Why would the team give the game to the kind of people that leak photos and shit over their loyal fans that keep their forums alive?

I applaud you on a proper reading of the topic, rather than just jumping tot he conclusion that this is another “tell me when it’ll be done” post.

Now, ON TOPIC,
Most major developers do this, but the Black Mesa team is a small, independent, and somewhat community driven team. If they do, though, they’d probably have to get themselves setup with a pretty tight review release date schedule, possibly to coincide with the soundtrack release, or possibly, the release of the mod itself, as not to have anything they don’t want out prior to the release escaping.

My guess would be “no”, because:

  1. I believe that that way, there would be a chance that someone would leak the mod before its original release date.
  2. The team has had some bad experience by previewing sites (at least once) that posted dozens of screenshots from the mod, apparently covering every inch or so of the levels.
  3. We would see Xen before the mod was released.

Please, finish this mod. It’s since 2007 that I’m waiting :frowning:

As far as we know, they intend to finish it.

Ahem, I am.

Does this mean I get It early?[COLOR=‘Black’]NOT

when it’s done.

Aww, really? Some people wait since 2005…

I’ve been waiting for this mod for almost 26 years. I vehemently demand that you guys finish this mod right now!

I’d review the mod if you were struggling to find volunteers

Edit: Sorry Bloodshot, for some reason my mind filtered out your comment :meh:

They’ll be sending copies of the game to everyone early EXCEPT ign

Lemme count it.
There’re almost a dozen guys trying to claim the game that wasn’t finished yet.

i would lovely review this mod but sadly i aint a member of any reviewer site >_<

I think volunteering is a bad idea. If you get to play BM before the rest of the community, I’m pretty sure you’re going to get eaten, raped and killed by an angry mob. Just saying… :jizz:

In that order?

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
