Or, you didn’t need to ask the question at all and, instead, pay attention to how others use the forum and try to ‘assimilate’ yourself. I participate in several online fora and I know how to act in each of those and they’re different from forum to forum.
Perhaps it’s an acquired skill and, while I know that I’m annoying to some people and some people don’t like me, that’s going to happen wherever you go, but I try to “go with the flow” the best I can. I lurked for a while before even registering to see how the place was and try to get a feel of the place.
Perhaps you could try that?
