When Black Mesa Is Released: What Then?

When BM is released… the devs will get a job at valve/or not… this site won’t die out because there are 2 many of us regged here :stuck_out_tongue: (all account will need to dissappear again 2 silence us - THIS WON’T HAPPEN anytime soon)… after release we will open new threads… like… “the good old days”… “waiting ended”… “emotions with the release”… damn… i can’t think of better ones… this community will survive with all it’s magic

Barf

Tally-ho, barf barf.

Row row row your boat gently down the stream, belts off trousers down isn’t life a scream, hey!

Ah, university education, you can’t beat it :expressionless:

After it’s released, they start working on the sequel, Half Life 2: GoldSource, of course.

Black Mesa is released, oh hamburgers :frowning:

Fixed. :stuck_out_tongue:

A remake of a source game to the source engine.

Lame.

As lame as a remake of Far Cry on the Crysis engine:
https://www.moddb.com/mods/project-far-cry1

This must be the stupidest mod ever, a remake on a marginally better engine, graphics whores FTW :frowning:

The best part about that mod is that they say in the description that it’s the “response to Valve’s community’s Black Mesa”.
I think I’ve read that somewhere before… Oh yeah, in the description of “Operation: Black Mesa”, that half-assed OF remake that stole the BM team’s resources.

I don’t see it lasting long.

EDIT: Wow, Operation: Black Mesa isn’t dead. It’s still not BM quality, but it looks like they’re trying.
Ballsopt, what are you doing over there? They stole our Ballsopt.

EDIT’S EDIT: Although (with no offense to Ballsopt of course, whose concept arts are obviously original), honestly,

some of these shots are still suspiciously similar to some BM ones. Not playing the blame game… I mean, it’d be hard for a HL2 mod NOT to take inspiration from BM at this point… but interesting, nonetheless.

oh hai guys

WHAT’S UP BALLSOPT HOW ARE YOU
You didn’t see any of that other stuff, right? 'Cause, y’know, I was just… joking about that… stuff about… stuff…

Someone’s already making it.

My WORD! It almost looks as if both mods are taking inspiration from the same thing!

DUDE, great idea! You said , noobs ranting clearly showing how they’ve never played half-life one? The dev team can make a list of questions/trivia only people who have played half-life 1 will know.

if the dev’s make a "making of " video it will give me some reason to come back to this site but otherwise, when its released I will be playing it and not coming here on a daily basis

I’m impressed the O:BM is still going. They’re always going to play second fiddle to BM but they’re doing a good job, and how did I never now you were such a good artist Ballsopt?!

hmmm…I always wanted to use the word “facetiousness” in a sentence, but Ive never done it before. Fear, it’s an ugly thing.

Same engine, same BMRF, almost same location. Don’t blame the player but the original games…

There’s nothing in BM that we want to use, so I can guarantee we won’t “steal” BM’s resources. We started three years after BM, so it’s difficult to compare the quality. About the screenshot that you mentioned, compare with BM’s scene. The reference images are very similar (if you have played OF you may remember).

I made the wall texture myself, and I tried an more similar approach compared to the original. The reference images are very similar, but the final results are different.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
