Whats a healthy PSU voltage range?

Hey guys,
I have been noticing some rather strange behaviour with my PC recently, crashes / hangs / slowdowns / blackscreen with infinite sound looping. I have my HDD’s spin down when not in use.

According to EasyTune (Gigabyte tweaking software) my 12V rail is at 11.6 idle but in games it can drop to 10.7

Is this normal? Or is it a good idea to replace it?
If so whats a good choice for someone on a budget?
Check my sig for system specs.

That is not good at all!
your +3.3V is looking awfully low too…

What’s the specs on your rig?

EDIT: disregard that question, I’m blind…

750W seems to be enough, tho I can’t see any video card in your specs…

If it really is a cheap PSU you should get a better one. I prefer beQuiet, but I guess Enermax, Seasonic and that other one I can’t remember the name right now should be good too.

EDIT2: to answer the question in the thread title:
+12V: 11.8V~12.1V
+5V: 4.8V~5.2V
+3.3V: 3.1V~3.5V
That’s roughly what I’d call optimal.

Its a HD4850 X2

OK then. In this case 750W should be enough.
For the new PSU I’d go for a 750W-800W piece. A good one with +80% efficiency may be expensive, but it’s damn well worth it!

EDIT: On second thought… I’ve had a lot of problems with HDD-spindown back in the days…

So you think my issues maybe todo with spindown rather than not enough Voltage? I.E making the system wait for the device? I agree that waiting a second or two for an MP3 to play is annoying, but I like to A) save uneeded energy and B) keep my data as safe as possible.

The PSU is a problem.
If the voltages on your screenshot are while idleing, you rather have a POS than a PSU installed right now

I don’t know if the spindown could be related to the problem… back when I had problems with it WinXP was new - I gather they made some improvements since then :stuck_out_tongue:

That doesnt bode well for my idle voltages, not good.
