In all honesty Valve could not even bother to go to e3 and be fine. E3 is mostly a business event to show off to stockholders. Since Valve doesn’t have to worry about stockholders they can just say fuck that.
But they do it for the other aspect of e3. Press coverage, in the end more people will be exposed to Dota 2 and CS:GO. Plus they probably have new stuff to show about CS:GO at e3.
