What Game Did You Play Today?

I finished MegaMan X8 for PS2 last night. About bloody time, though I only clocked 21 hours. It was a fun game, and about as good as X7. Though if you didn’t care too much for 7, this one’s not going to convert you, I would say that the improvements made in 8 make it technically better than its predecessor. As far as gameplay and level design, they come out about the same. Enjoyable all around.

Since I took care of that game, I’ve moved onto Mafia II for the Xbox 360. I have been through the first game, so I’m looking forward to this one.

And don’t worry, I’m not going to illicit a senseless debate on the technicalities of zombies. I suppose if we did that, we would be strictly adhering to corpses reanimated through voodoo practices, and let’s not go there.

Far Cry 3. Got to the second Island and it’s a lot harder, and fighting the new enemies reminds me a lot of fighting the mercs in Far Cry 1. The wingsuit is completely badass

I tried to play Red Faction: Armageddon, but upon starting I got a really weird black screen and the GUI was messed up, so I’m just assuming it won’t run on my system.

I played Half-Life 2 instead. This game is way easier than I remember.

Started a Classic Difficulty file on X-Com: Enemy Unknown. Busting my ass to keep the council nations happy this time around by selling off more things to build more satellites. It’s a very stressful experience. I can’t imagine how hard this game gets on Ironman/Impossible…

Been playing Gamecube games on the Dolphin emulator. Wind Waker and Twilight Princess are pretty damn good and so is Metroid Prime but I’m still getting used to it unorthodox control scheme.

Played Hawken and some Ghost Recon online. They’re both pretty good for f2p games.

About to finish “Lost Planet: Colonies Edition.” This final fight is rediculous. Isenburg isn’t the final boss- the controls for your stupid super robot are.

The only game that’s done a six degrees of freedom robot fight right was Zone of the Enders. THAT’S IT.

What do you mean by six degrees of freedom robot fight?

All that statement does is make me think of descent

Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core

I think it’s one of the all around best games on PSP, with it’s amazing graphics, kickass cinematics, intriguing storyline, solid control scheme, and beautiful fighting mechanics. Not to mention it’s amazingly badass soundtrack.

It was a pretty good game, if you discount the fact that half the story was already laid out and they chose to retcon certain things for no good reason.

The gameplay was enjoyable enough though

Six degrees of freedom refers to being able to move your robot on the X, Y, and Z axis. Lost Planet managed to fuck it up by having the swords binded to the two triggers, and you have to hold them down and release to swing them. The gun your mech gets is basically useless for everything except shooting down missiles, and even that is hard to do.

Fallout 1. I’ve started playing through good old games I’ve never played before.
What’s up with ‘You critically missed and dropped your gun’, how do that even work?

I’m on mission 3 in Dawn of War and it’s stupid. The orks get tanks out the ass and steamroll me because I can only get space marines, which would be good enough to beat the tanks if I didn’t have to wait awhile for each unit to get a rocket launcher while three tanks are juggling my one unit around.

fallout 1…
man, that game was tough
what version are you playing?
the unlimited time one or the the very first one?

Played some more Skyrim. I created a new character, and I’ve somehow ended up playing some sort of heavy armor-conjuration-one handed-archery hybrid build, fighting using atronachs and bound weapons.

No idea how it happened; I was planning on a dual-axe-wielding build.

The one from GoG, I think it’s 1.2, so it’s unlimited. Though, It doesn’t seem like I’ll get the water chip in time. My counter is down to 150 days again, after the 100 days raise by the water merchants, and I can’t seem to kill anything stronger than a Raiders. There’s simply no better weapons to buy and all the available followers have died. :frowning:

I’ll try it again with a custom character instead for this Albert fella.

dude, this game is brutal as fuck
but seems wierd that you won’t be able to get the chip on time, I never had that problem
actually, the merchants decrease the time, not increase
oh, sorry, I thought you were talking about the parts closer to the end, where having talked about the water chip will decrease the time from 500 days to 400 days

Played Perspective. Pretty short (after all, it’s just a student project), but it has the best ending to any video game I’ve ever played. Seriously.

Played Gravity Bone for the seventeenth time.
I get a lot of replay value out of it, can you tell?
