What Game Did You Play Today?

Was going to play DMC4 again, but remembered that it’s not that fun when you replay it and that there’s basically nothing to unlock.

I just played with Half-Life, without the HD Pack… old style. This is the real awesomeness.

That is the only awesomeness.

Finished Metro 2033 again, got the special ending. It has its flaw, but it’s still honestly one of the best games around.

Splinter Cell: Conviction co-op. So. Damn. Fun.

Aww, I wish I had a fast enough internet for the co-op in that game! But I had to move inna woods, so my internet comes in by satellite. It’s ridiculous- constant 1000ms ping and download cutoffs due to bandwidth concerns. Dammit, Comcast, move into my area!

Meantime, however, I played two hours of “Dreamfall- The Longest Journey.” In contrast to it’s predecessor, it plays much faster and the plot has me intrigued, despite the obvious connections to the first game I much prefer the second due to the plot thickening much quicker rather than starting out with a surreal dream sequence that made no bloody sense and having a point’n click interface straight out of a Lucas Arts adventure game. But then again, the hand to hand combat in Dreamfall is rather silly.

Just reinstalled Far Cry for the first time, in a long time. Still quite a good game.

Mostly Gmod, by some reason most of the programs on my computer keeps freezing, even after I cleaned it! Including the web browser I am using now (Opera). It did while I was writing this reply! I now reinstall TF2 after I realized I have installed too much mods.

That’s all the overinformation I have for you today, now go do something important!

Just completed Sanitarium, crazy epic game

Just played some Bulletstorm on PC. Damn, game is fun as hell. Took a buttload of screenshots.

Just waiting for the Dragon Age 2 demo to finish downloading, will report back later!!

Same.

Prince of Persia, the 2008 one.

Guitar Hero 3 Raining Blood Expert :fffuuu:

Dragon Age 2 demo.

The combat is much improved for whichever character you’re controlling.

The group mechanics are still broken. Also, you have to get a warrior to level 7 before they can start learning abilities in the tank tree? What the fuck man.

I know the story will be good, since that was the only good thing about the first, but I dunno about the gameplay if it’s exactly the same as the first behind the scenes, but instead of autoattacking you have to hit the attack button constantly.

I’m considering canceling my preorder now.

I just woke up.

@BahamutBBob I’m guessing you’re on the 360 or PS3, but in the full game you will be able to toggle it. Just the speed and animations make the combat far more satisfying. I really hope that the interface is toggleable in the full version, because on the PC if you press Tab (to show all the interact-able objects), the enemy health is not displayed, but instead you have to target each individual enemy. The game engine seems to handle multiple enemies much better though, and I like the more functional interface (and health bars that actually correspond to the amount of health!).

The character models all look a lot more impressive (especially Flemeth), except for male Hawke’s beard and the darkspawn. The Hurlocks look as if they should be on the PS2, and male Hawke’s beard is just wrong. How can any hair be that flat, especially facial hair?

I don’t like how ability trees are locked from the start (though that could just be the demo), but having more control over choosing individual abilities is very useful, so you don’t have to buy 2 boring spells to get one that you want. Changing the stats to being class-specific is a bit odd from a D+D perspective, but game-wise I think it’s an excellent decision, to save wasting points.

All in all, I don’t think it’s going to be a contender for GotY, but I think it’s made good improvements on DA:O. Hopefully DA3 will be the masterclass to rival ME2.

I did play it on the 360, and I don’t know if I would want to turn autoattack on, because then I would feel like I was just playing a DA:O graphics mod. I just don’t know about this game…

And I’m guessing that the locked trees are class specializations like in the first game.

I mostly liked Metro 2033 too, and now I got a new PC that can take advantage of its demands, I might have to give it another go.

I thought the setting and the style was great, very STALKER meets Fallout 3, but I found the action generally a bit clunky and sporadic, though that makes a change from the usual relentless gunfights of a lot of shooters.

Anyway, today I have mostly been playing STALKER Call of Pripyat, The Precursors and The Witcher… Yes, I like Eastern European games

Oh, and a bit of Thief: Deadly Shadows, which I got for 99p at my local game emporium recently. What a great game.

It is a bit of give-and-take for DA2. Some things I liked (simplified interface, overlaid map, combat animations and more choice in skill trees) and others I didn’t (Hurlock models, Hawke’s beard [it creeps me out, no joke]). I think I’m going to go buy a full-priced copy for the PC, then get a pirated copy so I don’t have to pay for all the DLC. (I bought the Ultimate Edition for Origins, but I refuse to buy so much DLC for a single game, and I can’t wait over 12 months for the Ultimate Edition)
