Tried modding S.T.A.L.K.E.R Shadow of Chernobyl today, Steam version would load the game and immediately crash to bugtrap with the reason: “XR_3DA.exe caused BREAKPOINT in module “c:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\stalker shadow of chernobyl\bin\xrCore.dll” at 0023:00597CB5, xrDebug::backend()+165 byte(s)”
What’s odd, is that its the “gamedata” file that’s making it act that way… when I deleted the folder just now, it didn’t crash upon startup.
Freespace 2’s Mouse & Keyboard controls are extremely well done, coupled with the game’s physics it’s a very immersive experience even just using those controls.
FreeSpace is NOT playable with just the keyboard, trust me I’ve tried. I did find, however, playing with the mouse was actually not that bad. You still need to get use to pressing all those keyboard buttons with 1 hand (occasionally 2) in the midst of combat since a mouse doesn’t have all the convenient buttons of a joystick, but it works well enough to make it through the entire campaign with no major difficulties arising.
Finished Fable 3.
I’m blown away. The ending was actually more boring than Fable 2!
The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask. I completed the Stone Tower Temple and got all the faries. The Great Fairy Sword is pretty cool to be honest.
Also got all the remaining Pieces of Heart before the Final Dungeon.
Going after Majora tomorrow! :3
Honestly, it’s impressively dull. You fight through a place you’ve already fought through, but is less dramatic, fight enemies you’ve already fought before in similar numbers and then just have a slightly different to normal battle. Then a short sequence where people say stuff you’ve already heard and bam, ending.
So, Amazon is having a 3 for 2 sale this week. Looking through the PC selection, I spotted Bella Sara, a horse riding game. BOUGHT. No questions asked. No justification needed.

My horse is made of fire and sparkles.
Finished off The Parish in L4D2. I should have been doing homework instead.
I lol’d a lot.
I played Phoenix Wright!
Whyyyy, whyyyyy didn’t I know about this game before! It’s great! Just like the scent of fresh lemon, you see
There are a bunch of them too.
Yeah there’s a whole saga! I’m about to finish the first one I think…Chapter 5
But there was actually a final boss this time!
A final boss that did less damage than regular enemies at that point.
And was easy as hell to kill.
I agree about the ending being worse than Fable 2. I also found the rest of the story to be worse than Fable 2. Some of the sidequests were cool, but the main story could have been done way better.
I’ve been playing Borderlands, (1.41 finally Gearbox!) Monday Night Combat, and Red Dead Redemption. It bugs me how when you go to skin an animal in RDR, it switches your weapon to your knife. If I shot a deer with my repeater rifle, I want to have my repeater rifle ready the next time I go to aim, not the knife I used to skin said deer.
I tried the demo to Enslaved today. If I had some money, I would totally go out and buy the game right now. It’s pretty cool.
Oh god what, WHAT.
How… what… how… I love that game I want it.
To remain on topic… I played Minecraft, and set the forest on fire. As a bear. As we were building a fire station.
In essence I think that story was pretty good, even though it was still the same sort of thing as Fable 2 (a bad guy has all the power, get some friends and overthrow him), but the fact that you actually become king is fairly original for that kind of game.
The problem is that they did it in a really dull way. It’s just not fantastical. The only thing fantastical is the stuff at the very end of the game, story wise, and for game called “Fable” this strikes me as quite bizarre. I mean, the first one was all about your lineage, a quasi-demonic masked man and a land full of Heroes, the second was about a gigantic tower that once destroyed the whole world and a sad man who wants his dead family back.
Fable 3 is just about a king who’s a bit of a jerk.
EDIT: Also, is it just me or does your morality have pretty much no bearing on appearance in this game (apart from at the very end)?
Fable, fable?
With JACK OFF blades? is he the final boss of Fable 2 and 3 also? :o
No, he’s not. Play Lost Chapter to find out why.
played some more modded Shadow of Chernobyl (STALKER complete 2009). found it interesting that a couple of songs from the 28 days later soundtrack play as ambiance from the map’s speaker system in the Duty camp.(“in the house in a heartbeat” and “seasons”) is that in the vanilla game or was it some interesting touch that the makers of the “STALKER Complete 2009” mod put in?
EDIT
while looking in the mod’s folders, I found out that music was NOT added by the mod, but it seems there’s sounds for an HEV-type armor… hmm… methinks I just found something to look for.:freeman:
