What Game Did You Play Today?

Quake Live

Yes. What makes most games fun (for me, personally) isn’t how realistic they are, but how fun the gameplay is. Removing that aspect from CS made it less fun to play, FOR ME.

Or are you telling me you’d prefer Quake/TF2 without rocket jumping? Because I’m pretty sure if you were to shoot an explosive grenade just beneath your feet it’d pretty much blow you to pieces, instead of propelling you 100ft in the air unharmed.

As far as I’m aware. Condition Zero comes with it and Deleted Scenes no matter what. I’m pretty sure that’s what came in the box retail version as well, but I bought it over steam back in 2004.

I wasn’t preaching the realism, I’m saying is a key feature of the game, to be able to shoot through walls and your saying that 1 single mechanic makes it gay?

And rocket jumping in those games?

Does not propel you 100ft int he air nor does it leave you unharmed.

If you going to use an example, don’t exaggerate it.

yeah. I played TF2 on a server called “ubereal” and when I tried to rocketjump, it blew my legs off and I had to crawl back to my base where the doctors did the best they could to save the stumps that were left of my thighs so that there would still be a chance for me to use prosthetic legs. It took me 3 months of playing daily before I was in condition enough to use a wheelchair so I could pee on my own. If all goes well I’ll be taking my first steps with my replacement legs tomorrow.

Can’t remember when I had so much fun.

I wasn’t saying CSS was bad just because you can’t shoot through walls really  . I was just pointing out a few things I don’t like about it compared to CS, to show how they changed several aspects of the gameplay, but it doesn’t mean I don’t play it solely because of those 2 things.

Also, the rocket jump was just to exemplify the whole Realism =/= Fun
in games thing, so it was the first thing that came to my head at the time (probably because of a good few 20mins of soldier playing just before I posted), but you get the point :stuck_out_tongue: .

They Hunger: Episode 2.
I got killed by an explosion far away from me at FULL HEALTH in the underground lab, then I got stuck in the arena room after the autosave load. Needless to say, I got pissed.

…It’s really fun when it works.

NFS: Shift demo. Didn’t really get into it though, because it runs piss-poor on my laptop, and I wasn’t using my wheel. Apparently there’s a major issue it has with ATI cards like mine, and it’s being looked at.
.

Well I had CS by registering my HL WON key, so I didn’t get CZ.

I wonder if a half-life keygen come up with a valid key for steam, or if my account would get banned or some crazy shit like that…

It would probably get banned.

You’d get banned. As far as I know, HL doesn’t have a keygen, and if it did, Valve would get it shut down pretty fast.
Also, to make a keygen, you need a way of testing hundreds to thousands of potential keys to test, and so I’m sure Valve has some way of detecting key spam though their servers.
Yes, on many programs you can reverse engineer them to find the method to determine if they work, but you can’t do that with steam as it’s compared against their central server.

Long story short, don’t bother, you’ll just get yourself in trouble.

Tales of Monkey Island - Launch of the Screaming Narwhal.

Now this game brings back that great sense of nostalgia from when I was little, this is a how the fourth MI should have been honestly.

Oh, I’m not going to actually do it, this is just hypothetical. But I found a keygen that worked for my friend’s won copy, so how could they tell the difference between someone using a keygen for an “invalid” code and someone just mistyping their original, valid won cd key?

Mistyping 30 times in a row?

Hey, some people are really bad at typing/reading long strings of numbers.

I think the only way to know for sure is to try it on a second account, but I know for sure that that can get you banned.

I played DarkForces the over the weekend - I had missed this one the first time round. It’s very fun, and has lots of cool details in it. Tho I am curious, has anyone made a new engine for it like they did for Doom et al? Or are they just remaking it’s levels in the later JK games? (I miss being able to look up/down with the mouse…)

Same, on my system (Q6600, 6GB DDR2, 4870X2) it’s running like shit. Never get more than 15fps in races, except if I get heaps far out in front and I don’t have to render the other cars =[

Played Startopia, Madballs, and Guitar Hero Metallica today. AWwwww yea

Didn’t really play a single game in weeks. Don’t know why but these days I get bored of games extremely fast.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
