Requiem for Ravenholm does that horrifying horn whine about six seconds in, certainly spookier than anything else I’ve heard musically.
Half-Life’s music isn’t so much creepy as it is reminiscent to the typical soundtrack to an episode of How it’s Made.
Man, I love that show.
There are only like 2 songs that are actually creepy in Half-Life 2, maybe 3. I doubt this thread is going to get very far.
During the part when you’re in the airboat and right after you see G-man on the ledge above you, there was a Resistance hidout on the left and it had a lot of headcrabs in it and the music was just windchimes and nothing else (with the exception of the headcrabs). Gave me chills after standing there for awhile.
I agree, most of the songs are like Adrenail pumpers or so to speed you up a bit

It scared the fuck out of me, especially being in an old dilapidated apartment block with debris and stuff everywhere, and dark rooms with the one you hear it in being lit only by fire and the TV that plays it. ALSO the fact that the TV was unplugged- very creepy.
