What are your top 10 game engines from this decade?

or rewarded for his excellent copy&paste skills.

Source because of its physics
Unreal 3 because it’s pretty as hell

Source, Frostbite, Essence, RAGE, IW engine, id tech 5, Halo Reach engine, Unreal, CryEngine, Unity.

RAGE would be ID Tech 5 i think.

No, RAGE is the name of GTA4/Red Dead Redemption’s engine.

see, you agree with me for once

I’m too autistic to agree with people or something.

Quake engine

DMM
Euphoria
Havok
Cryengine 3
Source

I would also like to add the Creation Engine on the side, because we haven’t been able to play in it yet, but it looks pretty bad ass with what’s being done with it.

Yes.

IIRC Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories were the first games to use the RAGE engine. Obviously in a very stripped down form.

Fuck YES.

Also Quake engine, and BUILD engine.

I hope you guys have done development in these engines you talk about or else this poll is meaningless.

Source, goldsource, x-ray

GoldSrc isn’t even a current engine, why mention it in this thread?

Because it can still make magic.

I saw even better graphics on goldsource

LOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!

People have made shit in GldSrc that looks BETTER than source.

As for a favorite engine, I’d say the Quake engine. I mean shitloads of games are still built on it.

As true as that is, the title of this thread states that we are supposed to choose our favorite engines from this decade goldsrc does not fit into this category.

We are also supposed to mention 10, in preference order.

Anywho, Homeworld 2’s engine. That game was beautiful.

This has me interested. Anything specific that I could see?

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
