Watch Dogs

I have over $300,000 and I haven’t spent a dollar since that mission that forced me to buy an assault riffle. I still haven’t fired a shot either.

I’ m trying to be as non-lethal as possible too but some of the convoy missions like the one where I was suppose to knock down a guy he and his escort were armed to their teeth so I simply had to “take care” of them first before knocking him down.

So I finished the campaign. It wasn’t the hellish awful experience that people are making it out to be. I’m gonna go ahead and say though that, especially in acts 3 and 4, you’re going to definitely need to start firing shots at some point, during a FEW of the missions, because some of the battles seem like they’d be a nightmare or just straight out impossible otherwise… I personally left gunplay as a last resort.

That said, the gunplay isn’t bad at all. It feels oddly satisfying. You can’t really run in guns blazing in many cases because you get taken down pretty fast, so it’s not a completely mindless affair, either.

Did FEAR let you disable that? I don’t even remember it having much of an effect during slo-mo.

Edit: I missed a few pages.

I didn’t use it very much but from what I’ve seen of it it’s a strong sharpening filter and some kind of linear blur.

And yeah, you could disable it. Max Payne 3 had a color filter put over the screen when in slow mo but I think that’s it. You could turn it off too.

I have yet to use focus for any real combat situations. Haven’t used any pills yet either.

I may have had my graphics settings so low I didn’t notice that. I did really like how FEAR added a bullet-trail effect, though. More games should do that.

Did anyone encounter any Person of Interest easter eggs yet?

I don’t watch enough of that show to know what an easter egg for it would be.

I did play some poker at the $1,000 and $10,000 buy in tables. Sat down at the $100,000 buy in table just to stand back up again. I have $400,000 that I’m not using, but I wasn’t in the mood to put it on the line just yet. Nearly cleared out all the money on the $1,000 table. Probably could have if I wasn’t getting bored (which doesn’t explain me going to the $10,000 table for more an hour or so later :stuck_out_tongue: ).

I also played some chess on easy, and dominated.

I don’t like the chess “path” challenges. They are simply annoying.

Thought the graphics needed a little something, so I made my own sweetFX settings. Whaddya guys think?

Looks pretty good …a bit too dark, but good nevertheless, will try it myself.

Black crush is bad, you’re destroying the dark parts of the image

The third image sort of reminds me of Deus Ex in 16-bit colour, with that green tint to the dark areas.

White looks a bit blown-out (but it might be the game itself doing that)

EDIT: it looks like you’re using SMAA and LumaSharpen? - if you disable LumaSharpen, SMAA might be more effective / not get canceled out by the sharpening effect

I have been playing for 76 hours, and I am barely started in the campaign. I’m still in Act I.

Changed it up a bit.

Should be fixed now.

When you’re in a shadow, the light strangely turns much brighter, resulting in a completely white sky. Exiting the shadow fixes that.

Nope, TXAA x4 and LumaSharpen.

Now you’ve got the dark area detail back, but it’s washed out, as if you’ve put an additive layer of this over the image:

I’m not if you can do it and still get the look you want, but try to keep black mapped to black and white mapped to white

I had a go at tweaking one of the shots to try and keep the same sort of look without washing out or clipping detail, this was the result (still a bit off)

Tweaking around with it a little bit, I think I got that washed out layer away. Will post pics soon.

EDIT: Screenies

It looks like it was over-sharpened. Don’t know if that’s even possible (or a word).

That’s a personal preference, I like it like that. Besides, the jpeg artifacting and my low AA setting makes it look much worse than it actually is.

That seems to have done it

I like the dark night

I think it might look better in motion, the sharpening might be there to try to counteract the blur from TXAA

EDIT: left my computer with the reply box open, posted now and managed to get ninja’d by an hour :stuck_out_tongue:

So, how’s server access for you all? Having any problems with Uplay? Got fed up and arrrrred it?
