As long as they keep it logical, it’s fine by me: if they want radio chatter, give them gasmasks so it will make sense they’d use them. It will dehumanize them too.
As for the re-recording of the scripted dialogue, I’m actually happy. For starters, it shouldn’t take too long; there are very few soldier dialogues, if I remember correctly, unless they added a lot more. And, yeah… I understood why they went for the cheesy dialogue, but I certainly prefer a more realistic approach.
By the way, we will still hear the normal non-filtered voice in Commanders and Medics, right?
And about the alternate track… yeah, something more punchy would probably be better there, something like Vortal Combat from Episode Two (the song that plays during the Vorts vs Ant-Lions fight in the mines.)
I wonder if they plan to uncover some other key gameplay moments; not key for the game, but key for them to receive last-minute feedback. I mean, I hope devs weren’t discouraged by the mixed response; it was mostly positive, with the only problem laying in the sound department -the choice of voice direction (not even actually the voice actor) and the choice of song (again, not that the song was bad.) But even so, it’d be interesting to know if they are ready to make similar changes when they upload more gameplay the closer we get to the release.
