ValveTime BlackMesa Gameplay footage

Yeah, I couldn’t tell either. Sounds pretty serious, though, so I rolled with it.

Anyway, I have a question about the leaked footage. Before entering the main launch room, the player switches to the grenade and then to the Glock to shoot out the glass. Can you not throw a grenade through the glass for some reason, or did he just want to shoot out the glass? I’m not sure if this should go in the enquiries about the mod thread or here, but I’m here, so…

Seriously, all these changes because some idiots did not appreciate your hard work and creativity? I think the two sets of voices for human grunts sounded interesting, and the human grunt scripted dialogue and the song were super cool…
I doubt that more video-footage of Black Mesa will do any good before the release because there will always be something new for people to criticize :expressionless:

Hopefully people will stop bitching about the Soldiers voice acting after this.

I respect whatever choose they made.

All grunts now wear gasmasks? Squad leaders and medics as well?

Oh well, I think it’s nice that you listen to feedback. I really liked the gameplay video, but the scripted dialogue voice acting was a bit distracting.

Idem, although I’m really surprised how much impact the complaining had.

People WILL still find things to bitch about,it’s in the nature of assholes to do so,I hope you guys don’t give in too much.

Someone posted that list in another forum, the first response:

It happened faster than I thought.

:frowning: and :frowning: at the same time.

I am really surprised, people.

Not ALL CRITICISMS translate into “whining and bitching”. Do you have any idea what feedback is and what kind of role it has when developing software (and not only, of course)?

As long as they keep it logical, it’s fine by me: if they want radio chatter, give them gasmasks so it will make sense they’d use them. It will dehumanize them too.

As for the re-recording of the scripted dialogue, I’m actually happy. For starters, it shouldn’t take too long; there are very few soldier dialogues, if I remember correctly, unless they added a lot more. And, yeah… I understood why they went for the cheesy dialogue, but I certainly prefer a more realistic approach.

By the way, we will still hear the normal non-filtered voice in Commanders and Medics, right?

And about the alternate track… yeah, something more punchy would probably be better there, something like Vortal Combat from Episode Two (the song that plays during the Vorts vs Ant-Lions fight in the mines.)

I wonder if they plan to uncover some other key gameplay moments; not key for the game, but key for them to receive last-minute feedback. I mean, I hope devs weren’t discouraged by the mixed response; it was mostly positive, with the only problem laying in the sound department -the choice of voice direction (not even actually the voice actor) and the choice of song (again, not that the song was bad.) But even so, it’d be interesting to know if they are ready to make similar changes when they upload more gameplay the closer we get to the release.

this is good- though personally I was kinda liked with the lack of static over their voices, it was just the heavily excessive cheasiness of the voices that bothered me. will sound badass either way. 1 question though- will the non-gasmask grunts (medics and sergeants) have that same static? it would be nice to have some balance, as well as being more logical.

edit: Boll*cks, ninja’d :ninja:

As long as the ending of the replacement track mellows out the same way as in the leak, I’m all for it. Seriously, the second half of the track was fucking awesome. I think the issue most people had with it is how it started.

Nope,we are clueless,do explain.

Out of interest, will the original track (and possibly any other ones we have not heard that are not in the game) be released as ‘bonus tracks’ with the soundtrack? Kind of like how you get ‘deleted scenes’ with a film, etc.

Thank you. Wasn’t digging the dukevoice or BGM.

OAR looks amazing. Can’t wait to play it.

They won’t. Haters gonna hate. Whiners gonna go to their mother and complain.

It doesn’t matter, even with a prolonged fan-interactive development process, people gonna complain about something - not all “fans” always have the same opinion.

I’m just sad that the gas masks, the soldiers are getting now, will shadow the greatness of the face-poser system.

Ram, will both sets of voices be included in the build, so one can choose which set of audiofiles one wants to use?

Is this a mod or a kit?

I know what sarcasm is so I won’t. And yes, there is also something called rethorical question (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhetorical_question)…

Way to go, crybabies… with your never-ceasing bitching, you spoiled all the fun of the Face Creation System for grunts and destroyed their voice variety.
Thank you so much for this.
