ValveTime BlackMesa Gameplay footage

Good on you developers, I personally loved the gameplay video, but it truly shows your dedication to the project when you completely re-do sections you thought were finished because people complained, most developers don’t do that, for the unfortunate reason that there will always be something to complain about :frowning:

Keep up the woopass work guys! Don’t let the Whiney pre-teens make you change everything though!

As long as you know what sarcasm is we’re good.

It’s funny, usually the same people that bitch about everything then beg for it not to be changed and complain about the time it takes to apply the changes…

Also, bear in mind, all feedback is not bad. There is a majority of people who love everything that has been done to the trailer and the mod, like myself, but prefer to keep quiet. So don’t judge all feedback on those that slate the mod non stop.

Sometimes I think people purposefully slate the mod to troll others or just delay it further.

Exactly how does the visual part of a grunt work in Hammer? Is there a flag/keyvalue to make them a commander or medic, or are they entirely separate entities? Is it also possible to control whether grunts have gas masks on or not?

Can I just say this… Make sure you have a quick rewind option if people bitch for it to be like the leaked footage before ‘the retarded gas masks came along’

Just don’t use the rewind button unless it’s obvious the world hates you

It’s the same as reviews for most things, of the 99% of people who are happy with the product/service/ballsack only a tiny fraction leave feedback. But if people dislike their product/service/ballsack then they ALL tend to bitch and moan. Loudly and repeatedly.

Don’t let the minority influence your decision making too much guys.

^I just saved ur signature :stuck_out_tongue:

All this last minute changing is just delaying the release further, stop it, stop it now I say! I find the grunt voices a bit lackluster as well but I can just record my own damn voice and put it in later, if it means shaving off just one second the development time, it’ll be worth it.

The FCS doesn’t even make sense for characters that never had their faces exposed in the original.

Don’t sulk. The devs obviously felt that the complaints were legitimate otherwise they would have been ignored.

I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but BM is not HL.

Personally, the Iron sights never bothered me and neither the music. The voices are another thing though and I am happy that you are going to change them.

I do hope you find another alternative for the soldiers though, I wouldn’t like to see all of them wearing gas masks - especially since all faces will be unique. Can’t you just give them a headset with a microphone?

Anyway keep up the good work, and ignore all the trolls, they are no better than the posters on Moddb  .

You’ll still enjoy the unique faces in scientists, guards, soldier commanders and soldier medics. So yeah.

This isn’t a complaint, just a curious question:

I was surprised in the video that the rail tracks were no longer electrified. What’s the reason behind this? Is this just to allow for those who don’t want to use the trams? Or was it because people kept dying from electrocution? or both?

Or because it doesn’t make much sense to die so quickly just because the tram is electric…?

I assume because the rail cart might have a small diesel motor instead of an electricity system passing through the rails.

So if all the grunts wear gasmasks now, wouldn’t that sort of negate all the work that was done with the faceposer system?

I like it.

So the commanders will still have customised faces and accessories, but all the work that was put into the regular grunts is sort of wasted now. Maybe it would have been better to keep a mixture of the young sounding soldiers and the gasmask wearing gruff ones with the radio filter applied. Ah well, I’m not gonna question the decision. Awesome footage!

As long as these changes are decisions made by the team because they agree and find the feedback valid, I think it’s ok.

I’d just hate to see work that was put into a new/special feature of the mod, go to waste because of a forced decision based on negative feedback, that could be from trolls or even people who justifiably do not like certain stuff, just because they tend to be more vocal and drama queens than those who liked what they saw and were looking forward to the new stuff.
