So have these changes added more time until the release? :’(
They sound the same in the original. I don’t understand why people are going crazy over the voice acting, it sounds great.

Yup that’s what I thought. Personally, I think all enemies should have those gruffy voices, it just sounds more badass imo
Game looks awesome! Looking forward for the official video, hopefully with gibs
The biggest insult to the Black Mesa Team is to believe they’d change something in the game they created merely because of some complaints.
Like someone else said, they obviously thought that some criticisms were valid.
I don’t think they sound the same at all. In HL they didn’t sound like midnight disc jockeys. The only issue I had with the voices in that clip was how slow their speech patterns were.
I loved what I saw in the leak, though I actually agree with the
latest changes. Giving the soldiers a more gruff voice, gas masks and radio-chatter just makes them more badass in my opinion!
I liked the music before, but I’m sure the replacement will be equally as awesome.
Keep up the fantastic work guys!
How are the devs supposed to know what the supposed ‘majority’ thinks when the supposed ‘majority’ supposedly sits on their asses saying nothing?
The worst kind of people are passive ones.
Shut the fuck up, you cunt.
Notice how the most consistent complaint was about the grunts VA. And notice how the majority of those who complained (I can vouch for myself at least) actually cared to provide their reasoning, unlike the ones who’s fanboy senses were tingling and who went all ‘oooohhhh I like it, so different and original hurrr durrrr’.
HECUs are USMC, who are supposed to be the best of the best, wouldn’t it make sense for them to actually sound like ones?
Apparently people are justified to bitch and moan about FF cinematic mod deviating from original (with the stuff being mostly optional), but BM is excused of all the constructive criticism because, derp, they see devs as artistic gods who do not make mistakes and don’t have to listen to any ‘piffling criticism’.
It is also quite surprising that devs actually listened. But it seems that no deadline pressure plays a positive role compared to what is considered norm in the commercial industry today.
Also, I didn’t ask for gasmasks myself, but look up what HECU acronym stands for, derp.
However, can Ram clarify this:
Will we be able to distinguish shotgun grunts from regular ones?
First link sounds like Donald Duck
Dolan pops up on the bottom of the screen.
Why did I get that Chrome extension?
Devs changing things for the fans isn’t good. It keeps the developers from releasing the product they wanted to release. If they want the cheesy voices, which I thought were amazing, then they should keep them. Just because some pre-pubescent asshole thinks the grunts should sound more like a big, badass muthafucka doesn’t mean they should.
Nobody put a gun to their head and told them to change the voices. It was ultimately their decision to change the voices. And if they delay the release, oh well. It’s not like they owe you anything. They can decide to not release it.
No, actually they have shortened release time, derp:freeman:
ODB:
So it’s not ok to just like something, you always have to have criticism for something, because it has to be perfect? Not to forget that all those newcomers to the forums coming over from YT and VT are so much more sophisticated at developing games that all their criticism is valid.
Oh and I forgot that HECU Soldiers have their masks on at all times. Even when making love to each other. That’s what she said.
These changes are very unlikely to create much delay; some slight re-recording for a few soldier lines, a simple model flag to add gas masks and some distortion effects on the clips.
…
Are you an idiot?
Have you been paying any attention to the actual situation? To what people around you actually said? Or is it a regular case of you selectively putting a blind eye on the actual reasoning provided by those discontent so it is easier for you to dismiss the constructive criticism as bitching and moaning?
In fact, why do I even bother answering to you?
but well done identifying me, Floyd, xalener and other old forum regulars with YT and VT bunch of newfags. Well fucking done. Shows what some of you people really are like in terms of ego.
Because, derp, it’s not like there’s a constant risk of contamination present in vicinity of a major catastrophic accident on a former nuclear missile base currently used as a top-secret alien research center which and therefore Black Mesa cleanup operation is supposed to be a walk in the park.
Will the cut music track be released along the final one?
I like it.
Since you’re changing the grunts up anyway, I’d like to second this idea. I don’t know exactly how you’d set up the response system to detect whether a gasmask submodel is being used, (I’ve never really dug into response rules or gotten into detail with the choreography tools) but it would preserve the work that’s already been done by modelers, VAs and choreographers, and add some extra variation to the grunts.
Do the gas masks come off with headshots like the hats do?
Can we turn off the red marks that appear when you are being attacked?
if not, please make that optional.
Well here’s the catch regarding artist’s work: it’s not like you are going to see the majority of the work done on grunts unless you godmode.
Here we go… I thought I might play it this year… Should have known that the community does not want to play Black Mesa, they just want to bitch and moan until the original forum members die of old age.
Black Mesa, see you in 2025.
If not later. I mean devs shouldn’t please community that much.
