ValveTime BlackMesa Gameplay footage

I still hope we can get the original OaR track. I actually bought the video up on my ipod to listen to it. But I think the song possibly was already going to be replaced from what Joel said a few days ago.

As for the decision about the HECU, it sounds like that’s more faithful to the original. But I really never paid that close attention so forgive me if I’m wrong. Kind of sucks though that a lot of the FCS is going to be ruined now :frowning: But I do have one question, since Ram said that squad leaders and medics won’t be wearing gas masks, will they have the radio filter over their voice like the original did?

lol ^ I actually did the same thing, although I turned it into an mp3 and cut out the parts without the song.

I vote for the cut soundtrack being included and released so people can put it there themselves as something optional, I loved it.

For the people asking… I will make the old song available on my website along with the rest of the soundtrack at the time of release.

(and those of you that want to can replace the new song with the old one.)

cheers

Cool

Thanks! And welcome to the forum hehe

I kinda wish you made it so there’s still a variation of regular grunts without masks and with masks. The work done with the FCS on regular grunts is now wasted. Sure, we still have Commanders, Medics, Scientists, and Guards but still…

Also, I think gasmask soldiers should sound a bit like this. A muffled, nasally voice would work for them since they’re wearing masks. A radio filtered voice doesn’t make sense unless you’re recieving a transmission from them.

Heck of first post Joel!

I’m with sersoft, every body need to stop asking for changes and whining about how they didn’t like things from the leak. Not only have you ruined things from the game that I thought were awesome the way they were you have now probably effectively pushed back the release date another 4-5 month!

Any changes we make as a result of feedback from the video will have no direct impact on any release plans we have. We aren’t going to start changing everything because somebody doesn’t like something, so please stop speculating and worrying we will.

Stop whining too, it’s not like they have to remake the whole chapter.

EDIT :

BM is 95-99% what we will expect : pure awesomeness but everyone will find a thing or two they dislike/miss. That’s normal.
In this case, a reasonable number of people were puzzled by that particular line of dialog, not all the voices.

There’s nothing wrong with critique. The grunt ‘com static’ change is good for the game. Dehumanizing and separating the grunts from the other humans (sound wise) was something we should have already done.

Isn’t it possible to include all variants?
-unmasked grunts with softer voice
-unmasked grunts with macho voice
-masked softies
-masked machos
:freeman:

I don’t think it’s wise. All the grunts should sound like a grunt. (which is what the static filter is doing) If you come to a corner, and you hear static chatter, you should expect to be doing some killing.

Thanks for clarifying. I am not so worried anymore.

Well who knows, maybe they were more or less finished with VA already and that department was just kind of idle, but now have new work.
Were the Colt’s ironsights really that intrusive? I haven’t seen the video so I couldn’t give an opinion, but if it’s not like modern shooters where you shoot 5x less accurately without it I can hardly see room for complaints.

You’re a jerk.

Good to hear that changes won’t affect the release plan.

Speaking of which, I wonder how many stages of the release are left; baring the release of the new site, the video, soundtrack and of course the mod itself.

Wonder how long until the next official update. :freeman:

I like how people think these small changes will delay the game for months.

Yes, just small changes and stuff. I assume it’s basically little changes like Ram said they did with the parts in the video that we saw, nothing really major.

In my opinion they should take all feedback with a pinch of salt.

As I said earlier, most of the people who really like the mod won’t give feedback at all, so all you’re left with is a minority that constantly complain, when in actual fact, the majority love the content.
