ValveTime BlackMesa Gameplay footage

Ok, questions about the footage

  1. I noticed on a pallet to the left by the first door there are radioactive yellow barrels in addition to the black flammable/exploding ones. Do these leak green goo when damaged?

  2. Why does the 50 cal gib them? Seems like bullets would be a ‘nevergib’ damage type.

  3. Those indestructible gray crates look heavy. Can they be moved at all?

  4. Are there multiple ways to go about entering the launch control room?

guy talking mad shit about balckmeas devs
other guy: “So you’re with Valvetime right?”

Here’s a thought - if there was a second HL1 remake in the future on Source 2 or 4 or 5 (see what I did there), what would you call it? Seeing as Black Mesa is already taken. I’d go with ‘Unforseen Consequences’. Or ‘The Adventures of Dr. Gordon Freeman’.

The difference between HL1 and BM is too great to be able to do that.

Halo Anniversary was a port, BM is a remake.

It’d be stupid to remake half-life again. Blackmesa is all we need, whoever suggested the idea was joking.

wait what?

Seriously, what podcast?

Is that supposed to be a remake of half-life or an interpretation in the form of a children’s book?

This one.

It would be awesome but also geometrically impossible. :frowning:

What happens if you’re inside a room that didn’t exist in Half-Life, or vice versa, and hit the switch?

OK. Thank you.

Who would do it? This remake was an epic undertaking (what was the span of The Odyssey? 20 years? This remake is in it’s 8th year - that’s close enough if you’ve spent 1/3 of your life working on it). After witnessing what BM went through, who in their right mind would sign on for that, or for a HL2 remake in Source 2? BTW - can’t wait to see Source 2 - as a wild guess, I predict a leap in animation.

This would only be semi-possible if the gameplay were at all the same between them. I think we’ve moved a long way from making “Half-Life in high-definition”, enough that I’m sure there will be people vastly preferring one over the other.

I didn’t Realize my name was a name of something else is this alright devs lol! If this is a bother may i change my name?

So about that disintigration I’ve been hearing about:

Is it the exact same as Half-Life 2’s? I just want a yes or no awnser.

-snip-

The other half was better suited for another thread. [COLOR=‘Black’]I am also wondering what the devs did about the Half-Life 2 code that makes the player’s guns reload without the players input or knowledge. I found that to be immensely irritating and I’d hate to see it in Black Mesa.

I’M PRETTY SURE IT WILL LOOK SOMETHING LIKE THIS.

It’s kinda funny. This was shown a while ago and I completely forgot about it.

hell, I even commented on it. What the hell is up with me?

The cosmetic effect, at least, would probably be replicated by simply setting all the graphics settings to low. But the gameplay has changed a ton from the original HL, so obviously the original maps wouldn’t be doable.

Someone should replace all the Black Mesa textures with Half-Life textures for teh lulz.

EDIT: Or, actually do an HD pure remake using Black Mesa assets. Hmm… Maybe it would be possible as a mod to HL:S.

What, like this?

Yesssss

EDIT: Oh that video. Actually I meant more like actually doing what Halo Anniversary did, except using Black Mesa assets to speed up the process or something. To satisfy the HL purists.

Mmmm, more gibs… from 3 years ago.

Why is everyone talking about how much extra data this idea would add to the download and stuff? It’s so very obviously illegal to distribute the original game so it will never happen. End discussion.

Hahahahahaha, I completely forgot about that video! :awesome:

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
