ValveTime BlackMesa Gameplay footage

hes probably referring to how dark the video is.

Oh, in that case, you DO know that the video was darker than the actual mod right?

Go back and read the replies to your post again

I get your joke now. What I was referring to was the fact that someone stated (can’t remember who or where) that the video was darker than the actual mod.

Are you fucking German or something? How are you not able to wrap your head around these simple fucking jokes?

I am sorry to rain on this parade but I thought the voice acting and music was not good. The soldiers need some kind of filter over their voices or have some lines re-done. And the music was odd and didn’t really fit.

Everything else looked excellent. I don’t mind iron sights.

Why would they need a voice filter if they’re not wearing anything on their face?

Also “odd” is not constructive in the slightest.

I do agree that some of these lines should be redone but I’m fine with it. It seems like they were going for a cheesy and almost parodical tone to the voice work overall anyway. Not sure ofc.

Some of us have, I actually understood the reference.

That aside, the video was AWESOME… the VA was cheesy though. :expressionless:

I wasn’t looking at their faces, the video is fairly dark. I still think it would go a long way, the marines from HL1 still sound pretty cool just because of the radio filter they speak through. Even the one’s that didn’t wear masks.

Not sure what you’re expecting here. I thought the music sounded odd and out of place, so that’s what I said.

Also understand that even though I didn’t like those two things…they are somewhat minor and overshadowed by all of the other greatness in that video.

He was refering to how your comment of the music being “odd” is like saying I don’t like dubstep - why? - because I don’t. You’re not really explaining why, and I respect that’s your opinion, but expect to get critical feedback where you lack it.

Also, I like the direction they’ve taken. They’ve looked at the nostalgic elements of how some fans percieve the original as it is today - bright and colourful, slightly clunky story and dialogue, with sci-fi B-movie music. It’s incredible that they’ve presented this whilst also including more modern FPS features, such as iron-sights, radial damage display a more advanced movement system.

Looking forward to the final result guys.

Well… Once I figured out it was a joke, I didn’t know if he was trying to be funny, or he thought it was too dark and was complaining. Honestly, with all the complaining people have been doing today it’s kind of hard not to assume some people are hating. But I get it was supposed to be funny now.

Do I have to write a big nerdy paragraph about the atmosphere of Half-life and its music or something? I just don’t think it sounds fitting, which is subjective anyways. So that’s what I said.

I agree, the music was a bit bizzare, but I can still dig it. I’m not going to be all “REPLACE ALL THE MUSIC WITH THE ORIGINAL TRACKS” like some bullshit purist.

More importantly- the graphics and the gameplay looked totally fucking sweet. I cannot wait to play this. As for Devs doing smiley faces, I’m betting that means they leaked it on purpose.

I hope if there are soldiers with gasmasks, they have filtered voices, and the ones without them don’t

What really confuses me though is that it seems like you’ll get a completely different response depending on which dev you ask. So it’s that everyone’s purposely saying something different, some devs decided to leak something without telling anyone else, or that it really wasn’t leaked and the smiley faces are just them trolling us while they figure out how it got leaked. This is almost turning into a really sick ARG. I kind of dig it. :freeman:

If you think it will help, yes. Definitely. That’s how this shit works. That’s the only way this shit works.
Then again, this didn’t really fit either. The synth clap sound, the female voice sample, it was all totally out of place. It sounded like it belonged in The Fifth Element or something. Which is why it was awesome.

I actually liked the music, but whatever. I think the problem with the voices is that they don’t sound at all distant - I don’t know what it’s like in the actual mod, but from the video you get no indication of where the soldiers are from their voices - it’s like they’re in your head. The voices definitely need to sound much further away.

Plus when he says “He will pay” he sounds more like intends to sex him the fuck up than torture him for his crimes against his fellow soldiers.

was looking on youtube, and found this video.
