ValveTime BlackMesa Gameplay footage

You probably wouldn’t have seen it much anyway, what with the muzzle flashes and blood.

The phrase “You can never please all the people all of the time” springs to mind.

Yes.

:’(

If only I saw your post before I read the rest of what I hadn’t read.

Anyhow, mod seems perfectly fine in general. How am I going to be donating my son to the developers again?

What if I sent $1,000 through the mail to each of the developers with no return address?

I’m sure they’ll be more than happy if you donate that money to a charity or NGO.

ram could donate the money into his particles

I noticed one thing in the footage: HECU soldier which can be saw at about 2:03-2:06, 2:11 and 2:15-2:16 (the first one taken down with turret) seems uninterested in whole shooting situation  I hope this won’t happen often/won’t be noticible often in actual gameplay.

PS. I though also about some kind of donation thing for a piece of time, so I’m looking forward if any of the developers will give the floor in that topic.

official statement is “no”

Wait are you asking if they can deploy turrets instead of shooting themselves, or they just don’t seem interested in fighting at all?

Soldiers that could throw down a turret to help fight for them would be sick! But I’m not asking for anything at this point, just saying.

Also I don’t think they were uninterested, they’re programed AI’s that FUCKING LOVE SHOOTING AT YOUR ASS.

But it would be funny to see a HECU grunt throw down his rifle and give you a hug instead.

SSSSHHHHHHPHSHSHPSHPPSHPHHK.

Don’t spoil the easter eggs!

Spooboy, I don’t know if you’re making fun of me or you just didn’t understood what i meant in my post. But soldiers throwing turrets into fights or throwing down weapons like “Hey guys, it’s Freeman, dude, you’re a legend here, come for a hug” make me laught.

The thing about which I was talking about, is that there is one HECU soldier that looks like he didn’t noticed nor Freeman or that his buddies are in the middle of exchange of fire. He just walks/patrols area like nothing very interesting was going around him. The turret thing - I might express wrong myself, I wanted to point which particular soldier I’m talking about - the one which is killed by player with turret as first.

Of course he could be on acid or shrooms saying to himself: “Act normal, this isn’t happening, damn I shouldn’t took drags to work”

I saw a similar bug with the soldier hiding in the corner in the launch control room. He just kind of sits there spinning around while the player shoots him.

I hope this either isnt a bug, or if it is it is fixed by release

Saw it too, but this one it not necessarly a bug - he just runed to “safe” position after player shoted the glass and he were looking for the danger. He should spot the broken glass actually, but I think this is kinda “edge” situation, so he’ll probably act as he should in most/all situations.

You do need to account for edge cases. It is still a bug, just not a noticeable one in normal gameplay. It may or may not be worth the teams time to fix it

I most certainly wasn’t making fun of you :stuck_out_tongue: I sincerely didn’t understand what you’re saying but I get it now. My point still stands, however. Soldiers throwing down turrets to provide additional fire would be awesome. Also that one shhhhhhshshsshhhh secret Easter egg that I talked about would be funny, too. I’m also kind of just typing just because I’m bored…

Well the game was on Easy for the video, so I’d say its just the ‘dumb AI.’ Set it to Extra Hard mode he’ll probably shoot you through three walls before you even get off the tram. :3

Considering the soldiers are supposedly using a lot of the HL2 animation library and the turrets were re-designed to be closer to HL2’s floor turrets, they could use the turret_carry animation to allow the marines to place turrets. It could be quite a nice touch, but it would have to be scripted. Marines couldn’t place the turrets dynamically.

I am sure they can make them dynamically drop turrets in the sauce code

So I just spent hours reading this thread from start to finish. I’ll do a quick recap to help others out. This is pretty informal and I’ll probably forget a few things.

The leaked video was intended to be released among several other gameplay videos within a short timespan leading up to the release. Someone, known to the devs but undisclosed to us, showed someone the video, and that someone gave it to Valvetime (or Valvetime was that someone, not sure on this part). The devs asked Valvetime not to leak the content but Valvetime did it anyway. There was a squabble and some video pulling between Valvetime ad the devs. That appears to have been resolved.

There were quite a few negative responses to the leaked video. Among them were iron sights on the magnum, lack of hgrunt radio static sound, (intentionally) cheesy line reading, disjointed conversation flow, and out of place music. The devs have responded directly to all of these, and the changes have ALREADY been implemented. The irons sights on the magnum were given a toggle option in the game’s menu.

The changes had little or no impact on the release date. The devs DID NOT implement the changes just because some whiny assholes and some respectable forum regulars wanted them to, the devs made the changes because they thought it would improve the mod. Stop bitching about the changes. They may conflict with your personal preferences, but that’ll always happen. Not much can be done about it.

Issues such as too dark, lack of bass to the explosions, soundtrack is too loud, and several other things can all be attributed to youtube quality and audio settings.

The explosives trap leading to the control room has (presumably) been removed. The tracks on OAR are no longer electrified. The sniper has been (presumably) removed.

Ramminator originally planned to release a revamped version of the leaked video, however it appears the devs have changed their minds and will not release such a video to avoid confusing fans with two similar videos.

The leaked video’s soundtrack will be released with the rest of the ost.

The devs are likely not going to release any more media until release.

I am sure I left some things out and may have gotten one or two details wrong, say so and I’ll edit the original post. Hopefully the influx of newfags will read this and spare us the stupid questions.

Oh and spec-fucking-tacular job with the mod. It has exceeded my expectations. I think most of the complaints were moderately well grounded and I’m glad you’ve made the changes you have. However a lot of the people complaining (mostly on yt) were ungrateful bastards who generally didn’t even know shit about the mod and posted out of their asses.

Source?

tl;dr
Okay, okay… I actually did read it. And to be honest, it’s too disorganized and rambling to really do anyone any good. Nice try though.
Also, THIS already covers most everything someone would want to know.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
