ValveTime BlackMesa Gameplay footage

Ram, I sent you a private message… before I read your comment, but I think it still stands.

So the video was taken down more so to make a point to people who leak stuff than to actually prevent people from seeing the leak? All of the drama seemed a bit excessive for just that, but I suppose we have ValveTime to blame for that.

Provided THIS is actually how things happened, I completely support the jab at them by filing a claim on the video. Why should the team allow VT to continue get ad revenue off the team’s content after VT disrespected them like that?

The initial intent of posting it was not to cause a shitstorm for the team, but had they just respected the teams wishes in the first place it may not have happened. (Despite being uploaded by another account earlier.)

Also, Smash is trying to play the victim now and be all self-righteous after they pulled the video, but he’s sitting there blowing things out of proportion. He’s complaining that their whole YouTube account is in jeopardy because of this, which I don’t think is true. If I remember correctly, YouTube’s policy is one in which multiple infractions of copyright are needed for account termination. So the only way their account would be in jeopardy is if they had previous infringements.

BM could have been ‘the bigger man’ in this situation, but what they chose to do is also completely justified as far as I’m concerned.

it got taken off valvetimes channel, because they weren’t supposed to post it before the team gave its ok. They didn’t wait for that. So they got punished…

It looks like this mod is really coming along well

Lol, I applaud Xalener’s aggressive defense for Black Mesa on that Shogun article. It was delightful.

Anyway, so when will this 1080p gameplay video be uploaded to the BM youtube channel? I watched the leaked one and like many others, i would love to see it in all its true sexiness.

Also, I just realized I have yet to actually comment on what I think of the video. So here’s my two cents.

98% sexysexysexy.
2% - Little worried about that specific sequence with the grunts.

I know everyone is complaining about nitpicky things, but the one complaint that seems pretty consistent is the one about the voice acting. I understand and fully support the satirical approach the team is going for, don’t get me wrong. However, I notice two minor issues with this section. The first being that I feel the satire is too over the top. Subtle humor goes a long way where in your face tactics fall flat. //Personal preference. The second being that the flow of the conversation is just bizarre to me and I feel like what originally stuck me as slightly profound, now is just some meaningless banter. That’s the thing I have more of an issue with.

I have complete faith that the voice acting a whole will be great, the samples from the past have proven what the team can do, but if this leaked footage has shown us anything, it’s that the team should at least consider tweaking this scene a little. :freeman:

Edit:

Got a link?

12 posts above yours: https://www.shogungamer.com/news/14383/leaked-black-mesa-source-footage-may-leave-you-bit-shocked

Sure

Edit: Lol, good timing Striker.

Thanks striker. (And you too afterwars, despite your lateness, lol)

Wow, that was indeed magnificent!

Thanks. I figured people who posted in this thread before me didn’t need a link as it was a couple posts behind mine being mentioned.

Edit: Nice “edit” there, bud.

Most people are just talking about the mod itself, positive and negative (more negative than positive, people like to be critical after all). Very little comment has been made there about the takedown other than about two posts.

Hm. I think the last time I was on these forums they were still being hosted on an external site. Anyone remember me?

Also guys: There is a lot of whining going around but not all criticism is whining.

Are you being sarcastic because his post doesn’t show as being edited? If you change something within the first minute after posting it doesn’t show that.

Also, I asked for a link because I was lazy and didn’t feel like looking back though a bunch of pages I didn’t read if you or someone else could just toss a new link my way, lol.

As far as the VT forums go it’s much the same there as it is anywhere else, some people excited for the mod, some people enraged about stupid things, and then the majority being people enraged about how dumb the original ragers are, lol. I don’t have an account there but you can go read the posts, it was surprisingly only 2 pages long last I checked.

zoom = greater accuracy or aesthetic purpose?

Yeah, I was refreshing after you posted for a link to witness any ninja’s bc with 8 members reading and 60+ guests viewing, i knew there’d be one. striker popped up, and then next refresh afterwars popped up with the post already containing the edit. This really isn’t a big deal. just something I assumed anyway.

Edit: @blackhawk, it’s both. Sharper bullet accuracy, slight zoom for distant targets, but also makes firing rate slower. Think of it as a secondary firing mode where it’s all about trigger discipline for distant targets. Half-life 1’s magnum didn’t have a secondary fire except for in the multiplayer game, it allowed you to zoom. using the magnum’s ironsights in Black Mesa is the Dev’s way of adding a new reasonable and realistic (also aesthetic) secondary firing feature to the mod that the original game lacked.

Aesthetics to match greater accuracy.

Greater accuracy, slower rate of fire.

yes.

If you are making another version of the video, please make it similar to the Half-Life 2 E3 2003 previews, the HUD fade in looks nice, and for lols, have the logo and disclaimer appear exactly the same, only with “Half-Life 2” replaced with “Black Mesa” and the logo replaced with yours, I think the community deserves a bit of trolling.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
