ValveTime BlackMesa Gameplay footage

I always thought it was because your suit radio was picking up their comms chatter, made sense to me.

The crackly comms chatter is for me one of the more memorable things in HL, it’s a shame to see it go.

Just wanted to say how impressed I was by the level of polish apparent even in this short clip. And I hope that the positives of the leak outweigh the negatives (or at least alleviate it).

It’s back, FYI.

Are the Soldiers all going to have filtered radio voices or only the one’s with gasmasks?

All.

The ones without them have throat mics, apparently.

Fixed

looks wonderful, seriously i didn’t expect it would be so cool.

Is it just me, or did the video seem to have a disappointing lack of crates? Perhaps they cut down on the number of crates to improve the atmosphere. I’ll the miss gratuitous crate smashing if that is the case.

WOW, ur right O_O

That section of the game didn’t have many crates to begin with.

There were at least several at the point where the tram stops and all the HECU attack you.

EDIT: looking more closely there appears to be some crate gibs on the ground, perhaps the firefight inadvertently destroyed some of the crates?

Hahahaha, considering the amount of years (literally) I’ve been lurking this place, I was amazed I hadn’t signed up already. I saw that as a good opportunity as any to do so.

Also, that airplane refrence… lol. I work as a barman/waiter, and for like the last month i’ve constantly been going into the kitchen and saying that. :retard:

I’d say something about the footage, but it’s already been mentioned and addressed. I will however say that it looks excellent, and I’m still patiently waiting for the release.

Is there another option?

impatiently. Which this forum has seen many of over the years.

Yeah, but you gotta think, why the fuck would there be crates there? Ya know?

The devs are probably trying to make the area a little more sensible. Crates near an electric track with a cargo tram has gotta be a hazard. Especially considering it’s a tight area, so they could easily fall onto the track. I don’t know, I’m just trying to rationalize – I personally don’t think they would have crates there.

makes sense

And the track isn’t electrified anymore…

That’s kind of silly because when you’re in the tram at the start of the game the female vox says stay away from electrified rails.

Different rails.

In the original, one of the functions of crates, in terms of gameplay, was to provide cover, for both the player and the enemies.

No, same rails. The rails don’t damage the player in Black Mesa for gameplay reasons. In the original, they obviously did.
