ValveTime BlackMesa Gameplay footage

I’m sure you can find it or ask Joel for it.

Looks like this leak was more trouble than anything. But was it worth it ? The only winners I see are people who wanted media at all cost.

Herp derp.

This is confusing.

At first, the video leaks, and the devs are cool with it, and the song in the video is said to be final. Now, the devs are mad (not all, but some) and the video along with mirrors of it are taken down, and the song is now not final.

Dafuq happened? D:

I don’t really get what spurred them to have the video taken down. I mean, if they would have done it earlier, than I would understand under the circumstances of it being uploaded without the dev’s permission. But why the gap? The sudden change of heart? Am I forgetting something, or…

That’s not true, I don’t think. The video was intended to be released eventually, and it was really remarkable and spurred a lot of hope for the mod. It got a lot of members together and some things were discussed and changed; I think it was quite critical.

I made some images for easy refrencing. They should sum it up real well.

Well… I guess they wanted it down so they could make a statement.

As long as it’s being talked about anything Half-Life related, it’s worth it “_”
This leaked video was much more successful than anything they have released so far, I think they should be thankful (in a way) and now just release it “officially”

Ah, I see. Still, initially, no attempt was made to take the video down. My biggest guess is that they were initially cool with it, but Carlos, the project leader, wasn’t, and he found out about it late, so that’s probably why there’s this sudden change of heart. It’s weird though, really weird.

“meanwhile at Valve” …

^ lol

Basically, Valvetime put the video up without permission of the Devs. Then stormseeker told an editor not to upload some article and to take the video down because they had asked them not to put it up until a statement was made, and neither was done; the article went up and the video stayed. So with drastic measures being the only means of getting control of the situation, Junek had the video taken down. Now ValveTime is claiming that they would have removed it if they asked (but StormSeeker did ask, and it wasn’t removed like I mentioned previously). Now Valvetime is trying to justify the situation and -based on some words used by the community and developers- is trying to shield themselves with deluded claims of journalistic responsibility.

Maybe at first they didn’t know who gave the thumbs up to release and after a quick investigation, saw that nobody did hence the crackdown.

We don’t know if things were changed because of this but it’s true that it rocked the internet for the time being.

That’s also a good possibility.

Yeah, it makes sense. So does your conclusion about Carlos, amazingcomedy. Either way, Valvetime shouldn’t have done what they did.

My only real concern is Valvetime making a video about this and getting half of the internet butthurt over lies that they created.

It’s times like these that I sit down, take a deep breath, and listen to this to remind myself of why I’m here.

Yeah, I saw the “journalistic responsibility” post. Just who does ValveTime think they are? They’re not an actual press, just an internet news site, they’re making it seem as though Black Mesa violated their constitutional rights of freedom of the press or something, but they’re just being drama queens.

From what it looks like, the devs may have been planning something with ValveTime. They gave them the video and ValveTime probably wrote and article to go with it, or the devs asked them to write one. Either way, it’s pretty clear that ValveTime was never given permission to upload said video. But did it anyways, and then published the article. At the beginning, we all probably got different answers since no one knew exactly what was happening. Now that the situation is figured out, the video was taken down. And now, Black Mesa is angry at ValveTime (and rightfully so). And ValveTime either absolutely NO idea what they were supposed to be doing, or they’re trying to cover themselves up.

EDIT: Just out of curiosity, is anyone here on the ValveTime forums? I’m curious to see if everyone over there is bashing the Black Mesa team.

It doesn’t seem like anyone seems to be bashing the team. Some may not like the team, but there hasn’t been any bashing on the Black mesa team on the froums.

That’s good. Everyone’s worked way too hard to make the game as great as it can be for a bunch of so called “reporters” to trash their reputation.

I think it’s a setup with Valvetime, they’re both fooling you with this “leak”, but in reality they’re best friends.

Ug, sorry, didn’t mean the team, I mean’t the Gameplay video. Some may not like the game play. I dunno where team came from me. urg.
