ValveTime BlackMesa Gameplay footage

They’re electric. The tracks are still electrical tracks, they just won’t shock you for gameplay reasons.

I would assume the controls are the same, there is no real reason to change them. In the video you can see that you still have to select the controls before using them. You can also see that you can move around while on the tram and also jump off of it while it is still moving. The only visible change I see is that they removed tram’s speed indicator from the HUD and instead opted to use use the handle on the tram to display what speed you have it set at.

And to quote Ram from a mere 15 posts before you…

Edit:

Can they contain cute little fuzzy bunnies wearing shutter shades? :awesome:

Does the mod still have gibbing? Because I couldn’t see any gibs in the movie.

The tram with 2 grunts on it, which is going parallel to our tram - is it the same that we jump on after launching the rocket?

Showed a friend the leaked gameplay footage (I kind of figured it was okay now :3) and he complained about the lack of a gravity gun… *facedesk

then why soldiers weren’t gibbed by satchel charge>

I’m not saying that details aren’t important, I’m saying that the game won’t be judged on the details

After people play the game, the comments about the details may be appreciative (“It was so cool that there was a tampon machine in the ladies room”), but most people won’t comment that the game sucks because of some detail - marines in gasmasks, voice acting that doesn’t take the marines seriously, the mp5 not being the design variant used by the marines, etc.

If, after playing the game, someone comments that the game sucks because there wasn’t a tampon machine in the ladies room, and there will be that, then I would chalk that up to the Assburger demographic.

Most people will judge the game based on the gameplay, and the details are just gravy.

You should beat your friend with a stick… immediately. :freeman:

And why did they yell after being blown up? :fffuuu:

Where does he live? I have to find my baseball bat.

my only 2 complaints about the whole video

You should beat your friend with a crowbar not a stick.
I dont think the satchel charge was close enough.

It hit the guy’s leg and landed right behind him lol, I don’t know how much closer it would have to be to gib, it was probably scripted for the video, watching them explode into bits after exchanging revenge dialogue would make it too funny.

Actually, why do they blow up before you press the button in the detonator? :fffuuu:
I don’t have any problem with it, it just seems a bit strange. xD

Aww… I won’t be able to send the tram forward loaded with satchel charges anymore, I always had fun with that. I understand though, it was annoying when the tram got away from you and you had to walk. Its a good way to stop that happening. Still will miss my exploding tram.

Oh, I didn’t think of that - I’ll miss that, too - although I wouldn’t have, had you not mentioned it.

Obviously, I’ll compare Black Mesa to Half-Life, but I don’t have any expectations of what should be the same and what should be different. It’s going to be a different game, and I’m going to approach it like that, without expectations or preconceived notions.

The only real expectation I have is that it will be fun to play.

I wonder if they’ve had problems with crashes from the use of more powerful weapons in larger firefights creating a lot of gibbing in a short period of time, exceeding the entity limit.

I know they’ve had some issues exceeding or approaching the entity limit, but I don’t recall this specifically being an issue.

Oh look, ODB has been unbanned.

…waits for ODB to get himself banned again.

On Topic: I totally agree that gibs shouldn’t be overused. Only with high energy weapons and big explosions. That youtube video was obviously a dev test from a long time ago.Although a console command to make things gib by crowbar would be cool also. <_<

Anyone else Only Use the Pipe Wrench in Opposing Force for the Singular purpose of Gibbing Things in one swing by holding M2?

No! You’ve spoiled another easter egg! :’(

HURR DURR IF U LYK GIBS UR PROBLEM LOLOL.

Come on, man. You’re smarter than that.

As for the gluon disintegration effect, did they ever confirm/ talk about that? It sounds fucking awesome. As long as it’s not the default HL2 disintegration effect, though.
