Valve's E3 Suprise?

I died a little inside. Sure it was a cool trailer and I’m really excited…but; seriously, wtf? Valve misled us into thinking there was a surprise, not a trailer for a game that we knew was being made on a platform we knew it was going to be on.

I think the biggest shock was that Gabe Newell could resist eating for the 3 minutes to present Portal 2.

Original text:

“I suck cock everyday and I love it”

…54 translations later we get:

“Not every day”

You’ve clearly never seen Crysis.

He said best version on consoles.

PC version will obviously be the best version of all.

i must admit it’s really good (and 50gb big :O)
but there are better looking games around
that game with sucky gameplay but omgwtfhax visuals

Actually it was very unexpected for Valve to announce that.

Its definition does, but a word is as much connotation as definition. And I don’t want to really see masses of people calling Episode 3 the next Duke Nukem, so I do everything I can to avoid that idea.

I don’t think they ever gave a date for episode 3.

Too lazy to contest that statement.

They didn’t. Which is why I don’t understand the butthurtness.

I think they said 2007 somewhere, but I may be thinking of something else (original projections for all the episodes?). Google says its 2010 for some reason.

They released the orange box in september 2007, so i doubt they ever said they’d release it that soon.

Also, why are there 6 threads on the exact same thing?

Yes, but the entire point of episodic releases is to have the game released in parts with small gaps between each part. A small gap doesn’t consist of several years, so yes Episode 3 is vaporware as it should have been released much earlier.

i dont know. i was just thinking it was gonna be more…gameplay and not a 12 second trailer:|

I tend to agree with Ond Kaja, Garfuncle. I want to play Portal 2 just as much as the next half-life game. And your logic is totally flawed if you believe that the only reason they haven’t released it yet is because it doesn’t have priority or they just plain are not working on it. Somethings take time to make even if we don’t like it. The great Wall of China was not built ina day. Valve has a DEDICATED team for EACH title. The L4D guys aren’t working on Portal, the Portal guys aren’t working on Half-Life, the Half-Life guys aren’t working on Team Fortress 2, the TF2 guys aren’t working on CS, or any other possible combination of those titles.

Now I like Valve and I’ll be one of the first to defend them, but I too am frustrated to no end that we aren’t seeing the next installment of our beloved title. And I am even more frustrated by that pityful, useless surprise (for PC gamers anyway). Gabe needs to light a fire underneath the Half-Life team and get them moving.

omfg… I thought I was finished with Video Game shopping 4 months ago…

NVIDIA GeForce 9400 GT Graphics card - $80
Portal 2 PC GAME - $50
Half-Life²: Episode 3 PC GAME - $50
Metal Gear Solid: Rising - $60
+Tax

These are the things I will not go without… None are released this year (other than the Graphics card whoch has been out) so I have plenty of time to save up…

@Garfuncle (and others): Valve doesn’t owe you shit. Think about it.

Nobody knows how far along they are, maybe at the next conference they’ll unveil several games at once?

Exactly

I would sooooooooo much rather see ep3 than Portal 2. Portal is cool an all, but it just can’t compare to a well made shooter, let alone the best shooter franchise of all time. But it really is just personal preference.

What I want to see most important to least:
Blackmesa
Star Wars Battlefront 3
EP3
Halo game on pc
Portal 2

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
