I don’t think Gabe would have even replied to be honest. So I don’t know whether or not that email is true or not. Now someone has to send Gabe that image of the email asking him if it’s true. :FFFUUU:
I doubt it’s fake. Valve employees are really good about replying to emails.

Valve uses everything as advertisement, even replies to emails.
Then I really don’t want to see his e-mail so many spams on one adress and much of them the same thing.
I saw the same email a couple of days ago on digg, but with “L4D3 :E1?” written instead, if anyone can find it. Safe to say this is probably (HOPEFULLY!!) a fake. Also, why do people assume that Gabe sends 3-worded emails like some kind of Steve Jobs douche?
Well, if he wrote long, eloquent replies to every email he got he wouldn’t have time for anything else.
Proper douches like [Gotta] expect people like Jobs and Newell to answer every mail they get with a lengthy in depth reply that actually answers questions like “(When) Is HL3 coming?”.
He responds to emails, I’ve gotten three email responses from the man. Just keep in mind that he gets hundreds each day and only answers the few that he has time for/deserves a response.
edit: and only one of the responses I got was over four words.

[COLOR=‘Magenta’]That’s right, Valve quickly replies to emails. I wrote to them about 2 or 3 months ago about a possible release date for Ep 3 and they replied the same day. However, their reply was “sorry, but we are too overwhelmed with emails to reply to each individually”. I understand that. I really didn’t think I’d even hear back from them at all.
I’m not complaining, I was responding to Gotta’s post that Gabe wouldn’t send short emails.

All the same, I’m not trusting anything I see or hear unless it’s officially from Valve. It doesn’t make sense that they’d tease everyone on this surprise, purposefully repeating the word surprise, only to say it’s this or that.
Even saying that it’s not Episode 3 doesn’t make much sense, because people are bound to gather all the evidence together and eliminate all the things it can’t be and come up with what it is.
Besides, I would hope that Valve aren’t so stupid as to fail to understand the appeal that Episode 3 has on fans. If it really isn’t Episode 3, I would hope that they’d say something official in regards to that, by saying outright that it’s not Episode 3, or that it’s Portal related or something entirely new, right from the start.
Their surprise is that Gabe lost 50 pounds and still looks like his old self
