You know the surprise could be Ep3 …valve stated that the gap for development of ep3 will be longer than between hl2 and ep1 and between ep1 and ep2 which is aprox. 3 years … although they haven’t stated from which date we will not see it for that period of time … this is just theory though

Probably has been said before, but enough time has passed since EP2 to effectively pimp the engine they already have and add enough content worthy of a full game (hell, I’ve seen games promoted as a full game with less content than EP1).

Isn’t HL2.net a trusted source? I think that they wouldn’t post some random picture of Gabe saying that it wasn’t the surprise. But since it is a surprise Gabe would always tell that it isn’t the surprise even if it is. I’ll just wait to see what it is. As you said that would be retarded if he said “yes”.

It’s either going to be Ep3, HL3 or something completely new. Even though Ep3 hasn’t been released or anything, they wouldn’t be the first company to announce a sequel even though the series isn’t finished.

I know for a fact that episode 3 was in testing about 4 months ago cuz I saw my friend playing it in my friend list. I grilled him for a solid week on our clan forum till he finally posted that I needed to shut my piehole and that I should know why he isnt saying anything due to Nondisclosure agreements and he was already in trouble for installing it on his regular steam account rather than a ghost account.

So yeah. SOOoooo not shutting my piehole here, but there it is.

It is episode 3.
