You bitch do realize that Valve has never announced a Half Life remake? Months before the release, they have released pictures of Half Life source, to show the difference. They only made it, to show, how easy it is to port things from the original into the source engine.
You know, they are also excited to play this mod.
valves mentality just sucks nowadays. getting richer seems to be their highest priority… portal 2 might become a good game anyways…
HL:S is not an exact port. gameplay is worse and maps are, too.
And why exactly? When I read interviews, it feels that Valve is the same developer like always. Just with more persons. Still funny, intelligent, and they always come up with new things. (Playing games with your eyes as controlling) If Valves mentality sucks nowadays, how much does the mentality of Activision, Blizzard, EA and Bioware suck?
If they only want to be richer, then Im asking you why they don’t release a new Half Life game. It earns the most money. You know why? Because they(Valve) didn’t change. They take more time than other developers to add new things. Experimenting. When they only want to be richer, why do they give DLCs for free? Why do they make such a great support for their games? IF they want to make fast money, they should just release every year a new Half Life. Seems like it works with Call of Duty?
I don’t think so… Since Valve is a company, they sort of have to think about the future and making new things all the time. As much as they would like to make a remake HL1 for the sake of nostalgia and the fun, they have to think about business. You guys don’t need to worry about business for this project, which allows you to do something that only fans could do, which I think is admirable.
I’m sure Valve secretly envies you for being able to do this, but they’re not in a position to admit it.
HL1 was awesome for many reasons, and while Valve thinks they’re better at making games today than they were back then (technically: yes), I think that they got worse at other things. HL1 had something new games don’t have. The world always changes, and we can’t seek to go back to the past, of course, but that doesn’t mean you can’t keep some things alive because you loved them.
Valve sassing BM for not releasing yet. BM sassing Valve for zero info on Ep3. Almost like a staring contest. Who will break first?

What was up with the one interview for Portal 2, where the devs they were speaking with claimed “We don’t know what you’re talking about.” when Episode 3 was mentioned?

Seriosly, we didn’t know that Portal 2 was in development since 2007. And they announced it in 2010. No one knew, that it was in development, and it’s almost released. Do you know what I mean? I hope so. Just because this man doesn’t talk about it, doesn’t mean that they aren’t working on it.

Thanks, so why they dont say something about these lines : Dont worry there will be new half life one day, just wait… but they dont say anything or they are laughing … new half life even isnt on their list of future games as they stated … portal 2,dota 2, possibly counter strike 2 and some football game or whatever … there is higher chance that they will once again start working on Prospero than they are to release episode 3 or hl3 call it whatever you want.

Valve isn’t telling for the same reasons, BM-Crew isn’t hyping: building up too much expectations, too early, doesn’t help in the development progress. And it’s cooler if they do an interview about say DotA2 and then comes something around the lines of “we had about 150.000 man-hours spent on DotA2, nearly as much as on HL3 - oh damn, did I just say that? grin”… That’s how you build up hype.

If you’re referring to the offhand comments Gabe has made about Prospero…he makes those about any game they ask him about, especially ones they definitely aren’t working on. “Oh, yeah, we’d love to go back and do Prospero. Oh yeah, we’d love to do that Submarine game. Oh yeah, we’d love to do a game where you play as Alyx or Dog. It’s just a matter of getting the resources free to do all these things!”
