I suppose that looking at it that way, there really is no difference. It’s just that before if they found out you were gay while in the military, you would be (I assume dishonorably) discharged from the military, whereas now it doesn’t really matter.

Because, before, if it came out that they were gay, EVEN IF THEY DIDN’T DO ANYTHING WRONG, they could be discharged. It has nothing to do with serving openly (though they won’t have to worry about that news coming out) but being treated the same as their compatriots (you won’t be fired if you have a loved one that the government disapproves of you having).

Was working on an online product page for some software package we have, and when I was about half way (aiming to be done with it by the end of today so it could go online), I got a email declaring this software package to be “dead” (read: absorbed by another software package we have). So all the work I had done the past 2 days was in vain. I should be receiving input for the next product page on Monday, when the product manager is back in the office.

So atm I don’t really have anything to do, apart from things that aren’t neccesary (but I do them anyway), so I can actually take some time off and browse the web :<
