Unreal 1

Hi, I have a Problem with Unreal 1.
It crashes when I want to start it in OpenGL mode, I think it has problems with OpenGL 3 but I don’t know how to emulate OGL 2 to get it to work.
Do someone know a programm which emulates OGL2?
I want to use OGL because with D3D the Menu is invisible.

OS/Driver:
Geforce 185.81 with OGL 3 and DX10
Windows 7 BETA

I suppose you used the ‘Old Unreal Multimedia Patch’ ?

[Because normally OpenGL wouldn’t be available in the Original version.] <- No I’m wrong OpenGL support is already there. If you don’t have already I would suggest the patch I mentioned  it installs a newer OpenGL driver.

I think the unofficial Patch 227e doesn’t let you play the expansio if you have the GOLD version.

I had the Problem too I remember and I’m not exactly sure how I solved it.

EDIT:
Start the Game again in D3D Mode. Open the console by pressing TAB and type in ‘preferences’. A panel shows up. Extend ‘Drivers’ and in ‘GameRenderDevice’ choose OpenGL. Close the game and restart.

yeah and there is the problem.
I set it to “OpenGL support” and restart it but it don’t want to restart, only the standard error window from Windows appears.

What’s your Unreal Version? GOLD? Original one?

it is the original one, with the old menu and the flight castle background.
The exact version is 225

I suggest you get the Official version 226Final here: https://liandri.beyondunreal.com/Unreal#Official_PC

And I recommend the Unofficial 227 Patch. It adds some fixes and updated renderers: https://www.oldunreal.com/oldunrealpatches.html
Latest is 227f.

EDIT:
Da fällt mir gerad’ ein, dass ich hunger auf Pfannkuchen habe :rabies:

thx, works now!

Great!
