Unconventional Use of Weapons

I like the quicktime sequences in the original Half-Life where you choke out the HECU with the hose of the gluon gun. You know, the one that connects to the backpack.

In that section, I often use the pistol to snipe the barrels you’re supposed to go through the buildings to get to.

And, before Alyx catches up to you in Nova Prospekt, I stack some boxes and barrels in a way that the combine can’t knock them over, so that I don’t need to watch one of the paths and can focus on maintaining the turrets.

Was I the only one who packed every single friendly turret found up to the entanglement portal room?

“hurr durr alyx don’t save ur dad yet, im got funnies to set up” :retard:

Does using the crowbar against the bradley count?

Also, I like to take bullets out of real guns and throw them into peoples heads. It’s much more satisfying than shooting them.

Interesting strategy. I generally stack barrels and crates on both sides, and have two turrets cover one side and one turret and me cover the other. Thankfully the soldiers never get the chance to use grenades.

In HL2:
1: Grab wooden box or other large object.
2: Sneak up on head crab.
3: Release object over head crab.
4: Head crab gets squished.
5: Party time.

Also:
In Nova Prospect I always use the gravity gun to bring the turrets with me throughout the whole complex.
This basically means that I can have 8 turrets to protect me and Alyx while waiting for the teleporter to get ready.

I always placed one in the control room and took the other.

Then I’d take one and leave the rest set up in the cellblock.

I did this, but with the crossbow in Episode 1.

I like using Grenades to clear paths sometimes.

Sure, I could crowbar my way through. But blasting random boxes and boards and whatever into tiny chunks is much more satisfying.

It’s possible to use the hornet gun to stop floating plataforms on Xen.

I think I carried all the friendly turrets from an earlier match, into the final teleporter room showdown. I painted some of turrets white from a paint can.

Crossbow to crucify enemies in Source games.

That isn’t really an unconventional use of the crossbow.

Take a barrel over to Leon …wait for the manhacks to just make it through the door, and then blast the barrel immediately…or you can blow the door completely up before Leon even uses it.

I use Dog’s ball as an aide in Ravenholm…it distracts up to 3 or more zombies while it rolls in place. It can also crush headcrabs and kill them. It will work as a crude grenade in burning situations.

Actually I would just run up to the bradleys like a crazy ass and crowbar them quick…sometimes.

P.S. Double post.

I read that in Spock’s voice.

Crowbar 2 antlions while getting bombarded by acid ones in EP1.

That shit was tight.

Isn’t that the point? :o

Ah yes, that was always fun :stuck_out_tongue:

Wait, what? O_o

In Obsidian Conflict (mod for Half life 2 with multiplayer), I activate a friendly manhack, then hold it in the gravity gun to use it as a shield and chainsaw.
