I disagree. Whist MGS4 has some standout moments, it’s story becomes quickly convoluted. It’s characters aren’t particularly interesting, either - with, like I say, only a few occasional standouts (Snake, Johnny and Meryl for example). Uncharted 2 was a breath of fresh air, with a fast moving script, great characterisation (apart from the rent-a-psycho) and some of the finest action sequences I’ve ever witnessed.
Graphics are both very good, uncharted is bought to life by the colour though, alot of mgs4 is gun metal grey.
problem uncharted (1) combat system was shameful though. mgs wipes the floor with that.
Hahaha.
Sorry to disappoint, but the story of half-Life is not one of it’s strongest parts.
But the story telling is.
Let’s see:
1.) They’re both in completely different genres.
2.) They’re both great in their own ways
3.) I have not played Uncharted 2 yet, but I am playing Uncharted 1 and enjoying it very much.
4.) My Metal Gear fanboyism is telling me to yell “MGS4 FTW!!! Fuck that gay ass Uncharted!” But I’ll restrain myself.
4.) I admit that the story gets fucking retarded at some points (see: Liquid’s Arm. WTF?!), but that’s part of the game’s appeal to me.
You’re ignorance is stunning. If you’re going to make an argument, have a real argument. And if you don’t have one, don’t post.
Not every game can be like Half-Life where you’re in control 100%. Though it would be great if it was, it would be very hard for some stories to be told 100% in game.
Besides, at least you can skip them. In Half-Life (and it’s sequels), you’re forced to take part in these scripted sequences even after you beat the game, whether you care about stories in video games or not. Why you would WANT to skip ANY part of Half-Life’s story is beyond me, but to each his own I guess.
I disagree completely. MGS2 is my favorite MGS game.
The themes the game was trying to convey were well executed and thought provoking, and playing as Raiden gave you a new perspective to the story.
But when it comes to being epic, MGS4 takes the cake.
And to whoever thought up the idea of a separate part of the forums for pointless debate topics:
MGS2 in my opinion was awful compared to the first one.
At the end of MGS1, I thought of many places the story could go…but it came up with some stupid thing that made little sense in comparison to the first one.
Also the concept of being on the “oil-platform” was flawed…the connecting bridges were annoying as hell.
MGS3 was a great improvement, with a great story and brilliant setting.
MGS4 is too combat heavy. You don’t have to fight, but you can. Put that along with the poor bosses and bad pacing…
Don’t get me wrong, it was a great game…but not too great.
I’d recommend you NEVER go to the “MGS: The Unofficial Site” forums then.
