ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME!?!
I think my head just exploded. If you fuck this up Bioware, I will never, ever, ever, forgive you.

I checked the site and they’ve fucked it up already
quote from the site:
LADY BRITISH??? WTF? Whatever happened to LORD British? Political correctness at its worst!
So glad I’m not an ultima fan right now
I cut my teeth on Ultima III. The series’ development is almost as epic as Middle Earth with all the back and forth between EA, Origin, and Richard Garriot, the founder of the Ultima series…
They probably will, they’ve been getting pretty shitty in the last few years.
I’d rather hammer my junk with a lead pipe covered in barbed wire than play this piece of shit.
Richard Garriott came to them with a pitch for another Ultima game, and EA turned him down for this. Congratulations on your stock rating, EA. You’ve earned it. And Riccitiello, don’t let the door hit your ass on the way out.
It’s times like these that I like to give enormous panegyrics to Deus Ex: Human Revolution and those who worked on it. Because genuinely, I have never seen such a well-done prequel, or late spin-off to any classic and loved cult-classic. Most of the time (Duke Nukem: Forever) when things are tried like that, they usually crash i and burn (Starcraft 2).
So here’s to Deus Ex! (Farcry 2)
wow… what the fuck bioware/ea?
You know, I probably wouldnt care so much (garriot’s ultima games are amazing and always will be, nothing can change that), if EA hadn’t turned down Garriot’s pitch to do his own remake… To find out that he got knocked back for whatever the fuck lame crap this will turn out to be is fucking insulting…
EA probably with with lady british because I think Garriot owns the copyright to Lord British.
With today’s indie gaming base growing, he should have gone independent and used Steam to distribute.
But…I think EA owns the copyright to the Ultima series…
insert legal headache
I’m not sure if that’s the case. I mean it probably is the case, but he did try to buy the rights to the Ultima franchise some years back and was unsuccessful. It just seems Lord British would be a trademark of the franchise. Though I guess it’s possible he trademarked the name separately early on in the franchise.
As for making his own spiritual sequel to the Ultima games, Kickstarter anyone?..
I’d sure as hell pay money to help fund a Kickststarter project by him to come out with a new Ultima game.
eh? Starcraft2 has crashed and burned? It’s currently in the top5 most played PC games in the world. Sure, it might be the entire population of S.Korea which is keeping it that high, but I wouldn’t consider this a ‘crash and burn’.
I’d rather pay Warren Spector to do another Ultima Underworld. Garriot has always been a bit of a pompous dork…
I wouldn’t mind seeing an Ultima Underworld mod for Skyrim if rights to a full game never happen.
Paul Neurath has been trying to make another UU for years but EA gives no fuck. Spector was barely involved with the original game.
It wasn’t really completely based on popularity, it was more about worthy successors to games in the eyes of fans. I personally hate Starcraft II, like most true fans of Starcraft because the story is so cliche and uninspired. I personally liked the new AVP and Farcry 2 was fun for a little while, but I stated them on how most of their fan-base reacted.
Now that there is an intriguing idea, hmmm…
But for me, honestly I loved the Ultima series more than the Ultima Underworld games. Still, wouldn’t mind seeing another UU game too.
