U.S. Patent Law Changes, effective Mar. 2013

Full Text of the bill, already signed into law by President Obama

First to File certainly brings a litany of disadvantages to the table for indie developers, but also cuts down on junk lawsuits. Good things and bad things in this bill. Anyone else ever hear of this? Why didn’t it hit the media like a brick like SOPA/PIPA did?

I can see it now. A cartoon based around two guys racing to the patent office, both coming up with the same idea. Then, at the end, a southern belle beats them both.

The only issue is the cartoon is in an the old bugs bunny style of animation, and I don’t see too much of that anymore… sad.

ANOTHER BILL?!

I sense a rebellion.

jesus christ you are delusional

Yeah, I know.

History Class flash backs, man.
Samuel Adams shit…

P.S. Putting Jesus and Delusional in the same sentence is ironic.

Lol^^

The US Congress is considering and passing bills all the time. That’s what it’s for.

I’m not sure what the implications of this change are (but I plan on looking into it) but I do know that they really need to do away with the majority of software patents. The idea of patents is to protect innovators, and the current law does the opposite.

Certain types of software patents are tantamount to patenting mathematics (there are only so many ways to accomplish a goal with binary) and patent trolls crush innovation by suing the pants of thousands of hapless startups who thought they’d made something new. It’s bullshit.

its only ironic if youre a douche

seriously

you are not as witty as you think

 1. Jesus wasn’t delusional
 2. Better not be a faith crack.

i think that was directed at dagon, but just in case: 1. i never said he was 2. i’m not (?)

Like anyone could even know that.
I only said it was ironic -to me- because I’m an atheist.

Subjective.

Subjective.

no, not subjective

you’re just a flaming idiot

“jesus christ” in the context i used it in is a figure of speech, it holds no religious significance, and, in fact, means nothing at all
it’s nothing more than an outcry of surprise or shock

so saying that it was ironic is just douchy (im an atheist too)

also irony is not subjective

That’s why it’s ironic.
If you read it literally and convergent, without applying the fore-knowledge of the slang or figure of speech, it has an entirely new meaning.
“Jesus Christ, you’re delusional.”
If you read it differently then intended, you change the the figure of speech “Jesus Christ” to a noun -which it initially is- forming the phrase into something I hear annoying, pseudo atheists say a lot.
Thus irony.
Irony: The use of words expressing something other than their literal intention.

I never said I go around saying that – no need to call me a douche. :frowning:

Here’s a thought. You’re retarded  .

i dont think you know what irony is

The use of words expressing something other than their literal intention.

It’s ironic to the audience concerned. (i.e. Me)

Usually when you watch a play or a film, the irony is not noticed by the characters, but to the audience who has seen the rising actions that make it ironic to being with; You don’t know what irony is.

You’re missing the “contention” part.

Actually, irony in this context would be more accurately described as “the use of words expressing something opposite to their literal intention.” But that’s a pretentious argument that I don’t particularly feel like having right now.

How is it opposite - I’m not arguing, I’m actually intrigued?

Pointless argument is pointless.
So stop shoving your dicks into each others faces and get this thread back on the rails.
