Trying to Install Ubuntu on Flash Drive

So I’m trying to install Ubuntu 9.10 to an 8GB flash drive and just have a quick question. It all seems pretty straight forward except for a part about a casper-rw file. I have no clue what this is :fffuuu: . It says it’s used to save stuff between boot ups and it can be anywhere between 1GB and 4GBs through the script provided or you can make it any size you want using another method. Should I make it the same size as my flash drive?

Well first you burn it to a CD, boot from your CD and then,

I’m following a different set of instructions. I just need to know how large I should make the casper-rw file.

Is that persistent?

I doubt it, if you want a persistent image, you’ll just have to boot from the CD first.

Or from a non-persistent image on another flash drive. :stuck_out_tongue:

The tutorial I’m using says it’s persistent. Is the first one you posted persistent?

Duh. Just make sure it uses all the available space on the flash drive.

Okay, cool. I’m going to do it that way. Thanks  .
