Tribute to the Half Life Beta (ie: Space Bikers and freaky looking security guards)

Does anyone actually have the HL1 alpha/beta, or are all these screenshots merely from magazines and websites?

Most likely real, just from an unreleased beta that valve made, I wish they kept Mr. Friendly.

Of course, the whole losing/recovering your glasses would have been annoying.

I’m interested in playing the HL Beta.
Can’t seem to find it anywhere though.

I doubt it.

Fixed

Hurr hurr

Hah, yeah I would have liked to play it too. It seemed cool =P

Thankfully VALVe kept a wealth of the cut content within the game files. That includes dozens of completed functioning monsters like Mister Friendly and the Kingpin as well as Ivan the Space Biker.

Aren’t there mods that use those monsters?

It’s Valve.

What are you talking about? How does a few unfinished NPC models and an unanimated player model make a “completed functioning” NPC? There is no code, no sounds, and next to no animations.

:hmph:

They use both, so they’re both correct :expressionless:

The logo’s letters are all capitalized. :expressionless:

So, it’s a superscript e than.

Both Valve and VALVe are correct, but superscript is too time consuming on forums so we just write a small letter e.

VALV^E, amirite?

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
