Translating Black Mesa

I’m looking forward to translating BM into Lithuanian language, this would be my first time with translating, so I need a few tips. Thanks.

Probably the bug reports subforum.

I’d say no, so far. The devs have not requested it.

Me neither. This may be a bug that needs to be reported

i can’t find a way to select languages. i might just be stupid, but… well…

Well, there is no button or an option for it, but you can change it via console.
Type cc_lang yourlanguagehere and press enter!

aight, thanksies

Playing black mesa with Italian subtitles and I saw that the translation is done very very badly. Some dialogs do not have subtitles, some subtitles are not translated into Italian or incomplete and some full of errors and / or noncorrispondono the literal translation of the dialogues. However, this problem does not affect the game as you could play in English.

Keep in mind very often you cannot translate literally (I assume that’s what you mean), because it would not make sense. But thanks, I’ve notified the translator.

I’ve noticed some minor errors in the norwegian one, the translator is already notified about it though

how can i turn the subtitles on and select the german?

For german language, I think you should set the Steam client to be in german.
This is from View->Settings->Interface->Select the language…->German->Ok . It will need restart.

To enable subtitles, you run Black Mesa, and from the main menu, choose Options->Audio->Captioning->Closed Captions or Subtitles (dialogue only)

Can we, by any chance, manage to estabilish a contact with said translator so that we can help him out?

Great job with this mod, guys  But I have problem with subtitles in game. When my Steam is set in polish, BM have only menu in polish, but any text in game isn’t in polish. And there is no subtitles at all, only voice. When i change cc_lang to english, I have subtitles, so there its only polish translation problem. In game option, I can’t change language to other, so if someone doesn’t know that command, he have to play without subtitles. Please fix it.

EDIT
I check, and there is even no polish subtitles files in game catalog. So bug it is, that game want show polish subtitles, even when there is no kind of files. I think it is error in other languages too. English subtitles should be set as default.

Hello,

First of all I wanna tell you that you have done a great job. After all this years wating for a pice of new HL material you came up with a great re-make.

And secondly , I am up for translating BM to Turkish if it’s possible.

Keep up the good work.

as far as I can tell, there’s no Polish translation for Black Mesa yet.
You can apply to translate BM to Polish here if you want to: https://forums.blackmesasource.com/showthread.php?t=12534

I’m trying to get him to log into these forums, or the translation ones, which would be preferred to discuss issues with localization.

Sure, you can sign up at the translation forum. There are some people working on Turkish already, I’m sure they’d appreciate the help.

Any way works for me. What matters is that we can help each other on wrapping up the work. If he also has Steam and doesn’t mind, he can also add me up - i’m sure it would speed up things. But whichever you prefer on that!

Well I created a topic about offering my help for Translation but the Turkish sub forum seemd a bit inactive .

There are NO subtitles in Polish for Black Mesa so far, they’re in the works. That’s why they’re not showing up. As listed here, the languages with subtitles available are English, Italian, Finnish, Spanish, German, and Norwegian.

They should come around. Nothing I can do there. They’ve requested the subtitles, so they should read your message soon.

Hey guys, I’d be happy to translate text into danish… 6000 lines doesn’t seem like that much. How would I go about getting started? I’d be happy to help if I could.
