Ah, you say that now, young padawan… But sure, go into the translation forum and sign up. Some people already volunteered to work in Danish, and the more the merrier.
Yes, i check it later. But bug it is, that game didn’t show subtitles at all, instead of showing english subtitles by default. There is no way to change it in game (in game option is only polish to choose), instead of this command cc_lang english.
You need to have Steam’s language (the program) set to English in order to see English subtitles. Have you done that?
Yes, this is one way to solve this problem. But it shouldn’t require changing all steam language for one game. Problem is that mod shouldn’t trying show language, which have no files to do that. Game menu is in polish.
That is unfortunately the way Source works. There is nothing that can be done. Apparently, if there are subtitles available in the language you want, you can use the console command cc_lang yourlanguagehere , so you’re welcome to try that once Polish subtitles are released.
There some missing lines in the german Subtitles while they are present if i change the subtitle to english. Any chance to compare the english subs with the german ones?
Guess this doesn’t really count as a bug and not many people can be interested in such an issue, but goddammit, my autism can’t handle this anymore.
Seriously, it feels like the Finnish subtitles are either intentionally bad (I certainly wouldn’t be surprised if they were just a parody of bad localizations in video games around here), made by a 14-year old, or by a student not fluent in the language. The spelling is fucked up, full of unnatural anglicisms and even downright wrong translations. It made me want to punch the screen while playing, whereas games like TF2 that actually have clever, witty and natural translations are a joy to read.
I do acknowledge that many Finns rather just use Steam in English (and these kind of translations give a good reason to) and a language of merely 5 million speakers can’t be very high on priority lists anyway, but having something this hideous in a product of otherwise high quality irritates me to no end.
To whoever responsible for this: If this was intentional, good job, got me trolled. Otherwise, read some literature and try to listen more carefully in Finnish classes at school.
In any case, is there any hope of getting a more proper translation in the future? I could even provide one if the BM-team would be willing to include it.
Problems and errors with Finnish translation? Overall generally displeased at the quality? Hatemail can be directed toward my private messages inbox.
Positive feedback not out of the question but likelihood of which, highly unlikely.
Now, some status report.
I joined A.C. Alliance China’s Localization team to try to speed things up.
So I and LampFreeman have finished the scenario part of the script (the first 1430 lines) and now moving on to refinement. The rest of the people are now working on NPC lines - which is progressing rather fast, and I’ll join them as soon as my part of work is done.
Refrigerator from AC Alliance made a fix so that Chinese characters can be correctly shown on the HUD (Yes! but HUD only). However, they still can’t figure out how to show closed captions in Chinese.
Now the issue is:
No matter what option is selcted in Audio-Captions, the subtitle won’t show up. The subtitle is compiled into dat file using Source SDK 2007, and Steam language has been set to Simplified Chinese correspondently.
So I’ve posted a bug report (not sure if this is counted as bug) on the forum but so far there has been no reply. I’m also very grateful that Jokerine tried to help me on this issue. He told me to focus on translation itself, and that is what I’m exactly doing.
But now we’ve been making progress. NPC chatters are also near to complete. The people at AC Alliance are now working with no spare efforts on this issue, but they do not work with Source and their ability is limited.
It seems that the only solution is to seek for official support. I know that the developers must be extremly busy at the moment - but if possible, even in the most scarce possibility - can we have official support on this issue? Thanks in advance.
I will now ruin the game by adding Swedish subtitles
Ready here to be recruited for greek subtitles

If needed, I’m available for helping with Brazilian Portuguese subtitles.
question about the spanish version of black mesa(subtitles, screen messages and so)
some parts are wrong, like when the train is going to the sector 3(the introduction) and gordon freeman’s information appears onscreen some words are wrong or incomplete and most because the “Ñ” doesnt work on english based keyboards (it appears as an space and an “A”, and it happens with entonations too like…(example) “í” appearing as…wrong characters, i will post a screenshot tomorrow to show what i mean
What should I do to become a french translator? I started to translate it for my own but If the french language is in work, I’d like to join the project !
Edit : it’s okay, I saw it, everything is already done
I would love to help with Chinese subtitles. Just tell me what to do.
That is not an error of the Spanish subtitles; it’s a problem with the mod itself. Here’sa thread detailing it.
Join the forumand check the Chinese section. As far as I know they have made quite some progress already, but I’m sure help is always welcome.
Ready to help with translation to Russian and Ukrainian languages.
Good work with the spanish translation. Jokerine, congratulate the one who did that.
There are some subtitles missing anyway. When I talk with the female scientists, the announcer voice and in the Cafeteria section of Office Complex (there is a part with a scientist and a guard). I guess is a mod problem, but you should know.
At least the missing special characters are fixed.
Anyone here willing to help me with the Romanian translation? It’s kind of heavy to do all of this by myself!
