I’m the one who manages the Italian translation for it. Now, most of the current members are from the Steam Translation Servers, so we are more likely to use some of our existing tools to organize ourselves than the forums - although i’m keeping an eye on them.
If you want to help, get in contact with me and we’ll see what to do. You can find my Steam profile here in the top right corner.
I’ll be setting up the second part today, if possible
Sorry, but I don’t use Steam… actually is a platform that I can’t stand.
Can we talk via e-mail, OK? I sent it to you by PM!
I guess i can join again.
Hopefully i´ll have enough spare time to do some norwegian translations
God, they’re making it hard for me…
My school starts in 17th September, so I have to both play the game and translate the texts in 3 days
Ah, I’m pretty sure it will be fine if it takes you a bit longer than that. We wouldn’t want to have a bad, rushed translation, right?
Yes, you’re quite right.
Anyway, I’ve already translated the main script, and I’ll will start translating the Hazard Course script soon.
So, it wouldn’t be too hard to place to translated strings to files.
Hazard Course will not be in the mod. Spare yourself the work.
And a question. About how much more lines of dialogue are there in BM script than in HL? In a subjective guess, how close will BM be to HL script. Just asking, because we’ve translated HL script an I want to get a grasp how much of that we will have to redact…
It’d be an honor translate it to Brazilian Portuguese.
@striker,
Thanks for the heads up.
I desperately hope we’ll also be able to translate the signs, textures as well.
Like this one or this one or this oneor this one.
And what about the them letters? In Turkish, we have some special letters like, ş or ğ. I hope I can use these ones.
This doesn’t look like a worthwhile job to do. The only game i know which translated EVERYTHING is Doom 3. Imo subtitles translation is the best we can do, the rest is just overkill.
Well, I’ve played Crysis completely Turkish (voices, texts, textures), I loved it.
(Maybe except for voices.)
Well, i never really played Crysis, but the point is another: iD, or Crytek in this case, have access to a good share of resources to do this effectively, which is not exactly our case.
As far as sign translation, in lieu of new textures, you could have entities in maps that would have text strings that display when the player looks at the sign for a set period of time with a trigger_look.
It would probably look something like this:
That would help foreign gamers with navigation, because much of Half Life’s art direction is geared to help the player navigate with signs. It’s something to consider, perhaps as a post release patch, or added with the Xen update.
It would not fit the Half-Life style. It fits any other game that doesn’t rely on the player for the narration - remember, the game is supposed to actually make you feel like you’re the character, and that’s something Valve always nailed pretty well in every game of theirs.
Hey Raminator, when are you going to release the script?
I can’t play it untranslated. Non english speaking brother.
Hell, I’m going to translate to spanish myself if needed.
If you want to participate, feel free to join the translation Forums https://bmtranslate.darkbb.com/
There is no point of joining there anymore.
I’m quite sure I told you the subtitles are most likely to be available on release date. Please, don’t go saying things you’re not sure about.
So yeah, guys, feel free to join the forum still and get started if you want to help!
Why would some go join your site ON the release date?
Just ait few hours til you get the mod.
