Translating Black Mesa Mod

Hi, I’m from Romania, and I’d like to translate the Source mod Black Mesa from English to Romanian  I’ve translated games from English to Romanian before, such as Portal (without subtitles  ), HL2: DM and HL1 via Steam Translation Server  If you (BM: S team) accept my proposal, please contact me via PM or email: the1bgm@yahoo.ro  Have a very safe and productive day!

Some other guy wanted to do something similar but then got butthurt by ram and cried as he ran away

I don’t know if it’s still active but try this forum

https://bmtranslate.darkbb.com/

I think the best way for translating BM mod, is:

  1. You (bms team) post on a topic the txt file (-s) containing all English strings!
  2. Who want to translate the game, apply for that, (the one who apply for that must pass a translation test, i don’t know, but i think it must be a test) and that person downloads the file/-s containing all the strings, and translate it all

-----edit

The mod will have subtitles for dialogs?
That forum it’s looking uneficiently for me… The best way for me is with txt files from mod! What do you think?

Uhh, have you actually opened the link I posted previously?

Yes, I opened it, but as I say, for me it’s look ineficiently that forum, we must post the translated strings on a topic… The txt file metod it’s more eficiently!

Unfortunately at this time we will not be able to provide you with the englist text files as they are underdevelopment.

Hey James! Will there be another update to your blog soon ?

seems like a post release project anyway.

edit: I too am interested in such a thing. I love in development behind the scenes shit like that.

OK, if the txt files are not available, I can wait until mod release to public  My opinion is that mod must be released via Steam, because updates (bug fixes, adding of languages, etc.) can be applied easier via auto-updater feature of Steam app  I know that depends on Valve… Eh, I wish you (bms team) very safe and productive days/months on development of BMS

You didn’t even finished that after 2 years now?

We did not start editing the file until recently. Organizing information needed took months. Actually adding the information and correcting the the spelling/grammar is taking time. We have to not only add dialog but add all the new sounds we have added. Slow process.

It currently has 3k lines. I’m not sure what is left as it is not my department.

About the release via Steam, what do you say?

not up to us but we will ask valve.

Ok, good look with Valve

You remind me of oficer Crabtree

It would be sad if it didn’t release on Steam. Personally, I am sure if Valve could do it for Garry’s Mod, they can do it for BlackMesaMod. It is by far the most anticipated mod for years now. Here is another reason I am sure it will be on Steam:

WHAT WILL I NEED IN ORDER TO PLAY?

The only requirement to play Black Mesa will be that you own any Source Engine game on Steam.

How else will they be able to police if you own an original Source Engine Game?

It’s not about policing, it’s about what you actually need to play the mod, formulated so as to not advocate piracy.

I think the “what would I need in order to play” for now should include “a fundamental knowledge of the English language with an American dialect”.

What about Community Projects?
Im sure there more than enough people around here willing to help :freeman:

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
