Thoughts on Halo 4.

As if there really needs to be a topic on this.

Do you think it will kick or blow ass?

I don’t give a damn about it.

All I know is that if it still centers around the Flood and shit, I will be pissed.

I think it’ll be a good game with a fun co-op campaign and tonnes of multiplayer modes and customisation.

The Halo series co-op campaigns on Legendary with mates is some of the most fun I’ve had in my gaming life.

As long as there’s not another Library. GAWD that level sucked.

Why do you keep posting gaming threads in this section of the forum?

As long as they’ve moved on from Halo 1 level design it should be okay. Really no where near enough info to say anything.

I’m more interested in the Halo 1 Remake, it’s their “Black Mesa” for Halo.

This. I never really cared for Halo at all really.

reports say they’ve reworked the library somewhat for the reissue. Still giddy that you can press the back button and it reverts to the original graphics.

Anyway 343 has this quirk where every so often, they’ll gruseomely fuck the art style of Halo. Take the sleek cosmetic and aesthetic charms you’d find in the bungie-designed content and turn it into thick, chunky roundedness that shares nothing with the original design but overall silhouette and color scheme. See the CG segments of Halo Legends.
I don’t hate their new take on what I assume is still supposed to be Mk. 6 armor from the end of Halo 3, the one Chief would be wearing in the teaser trailer. It’s just so drastically different from what I know Mk. 6 is supposed to look like.
My hypothesis is that maybe 343 is using the model as a placeholder for the Halo 2/3 armor, and that the one featured in the trailer is actually Mark 7 or something that you’d receive at some point in the game.

Don’t honestly care all that much, It doesn’t look all that ugly when you analyze it, (I like the upper body and visor shape, myself) and I know I’ll probably grow to prefer it. Nothing looks as good as the original 2001 design, IMO.

I don’t know what they’re gonna do with multiplayer, Reach still has map packs coming out, especially with the release of Anniversary. I’m sure H4 will have its own component. Depending on what kind of gimmick it has I may or may not move out of Reach.
Halo 2 had online matchmaking and customization, Halo 3 had armor permutations, and Reach has superpowers, extensive backstabbing sequences, and outrageous customization.

if H4 includes all that, they’ll have to add something more, and that something more may or may not suck.

Halo is still going places and it’s still fun and enjoyable, and that’s just great. Reason not to die.

(With the exception of ODST) Halo has yet to disappoint. I personally love the series and am ecstatic that it’ll continue.

Halo… isn’t that the one where you play army man and it’s like an arcade shooter and stuff while pretending to be realistic?

No wait, that one is already on game 12 or something. Halo is the one that is trying to keep up. K, got it.

Halo has always been an “alright” series. Its not worthy of all the praise it gets but its still not bad.

What in the hell is going on in your sig?

The one where you play as a roided-up space marine fighting a race of homosexual alien cuties. It’s essentially a fusion of Doom and Ender’s Game

Except for ODST, where you play as an Average Joe that cruises the streets of an african city looking for his friends after they ditched him for being a loser

Also ODST rules just sayin

I’d like the Halo games a lot more if they had better foley for the guns, had a checkpoint system that actually works to the point of being able to shut down the console and not lose eight hours of progress, which was a holdover from Halo 1 and should have been fixed by now.

Also, the writing veers between stupid and pretentious, the plots range from predictable to impenetrably complex, and generally the game plays to extremes.

Also, the online community has a lot of assholes. They’re decent games by all means, but I’ve played far better.

Am I missing anything?

the checkpoint system is designed as it is because the levels don’t typically take more than 45 minutes to complete, and each time you hit a one you can simply hit start and tell it to quit. Saves progress. What kind of pissed off quickster just shuts down their console?

I’d stop trying to defend it but still haven’t gotten over that some people are snotty as hell and can’t enjoy anything

I’m interested to see where it’s going, but since it’s not made by Bungie I’m not expecting too much. Plus, the Halo 1 remake and the new trilogy will be Xbox exclusive again, so I won’t get to play them anyway.

I like how people who don’t care about Halo feel the need to go into a thread about Halo and point out that they don’t care about it. Seems…illogical.

Anyway, knowing only the name of the game and that Bungie isn’t making it, it’s hard to say how it will be. It could be just fine as a standalone game, like every Halo has been, but if it doesn’t make some major changes to the formula it’ll feel pretty stale after all the other games. The new features and graphics they put into each game are nice, but each Halo feels essentially the same to me. Of course, I suppose a Halo game should feel like a Halo game, I just think they need to start doing some new, interesting stuff, instead of just “ok, have some jetpacks”.

I like Halo, so i will love to see how it turns out. Hopefully it won’t turn into a mass-produced game they only make to get money, i.e Call of Duty
