This is my first wallpaper...ever...

This is the first wallpaper I’ve ever made. Like it?
Any advice for future wallpapers?

I’ve never heard of the resolution of a monitor being 1229x665, but hey, whatever floats your boat.
Generally you make wallpapers to fill the entire screen, but if having it dead centre with a black background was your plan, then it worked.

Sorry, I have a horrible image reziser. It looks good when you actually apply it to you desktop though.
Anyway, is it any good?

Pretty decent

It’s not bad, but it’s also far from being good. The whole thing is very blurry, makin’ it unpleasant for the eye if you look at it too long. Like Piklemeup said, the resolution is very strange and I have hard time figurring how you could think it was a good idea to size it like that. Also the quote isn’t very special, and the end is blocked by a Pit Drone which is very out of place.

It looks awfully low-res, as if you took the individual assets of the picture and scaled them up to fit in the picture (which you probably did lol). You should avoid doing that. A wallpaper is supposed to be crisp ‘n’ sharp.

If it were 1999 I’d use it.

I made one to, its my second :retard:

That’s my new desktop!

The HL2 zombie sittin’ there is kind of weird.

Yeah.

Not bad.

What am I saying, I could do better with my eyes closed…

My first.

Its the logo for the band Justice

It’s meant to be centered with a black background.

It’s definitely not bad for your first. My advice: Never use low resolution images for a large image such as a wallpaper. If you have to, look on the internet for higher resolution versions. Even if they’re remade.

I did. For three days. :frowning:
EDIT: I have a HORRIBLE image editor too. It didn’t look nearly as blurry. Plus my image editor only allows me to put images together in a very…fucked up way.
I’ll try to do better in the future.
P.S. lolipopman, you better teach me how you made that awesomeness or a giant carnivorous butterfly will eat you in your sleep!

What program do you use?

Imagehist.
I deleted it it sucked so bad.

Download GIMP if you’re not willing to ermm… “acquire” the more costly programs.

It’s not that I wouldn’t buy an image editor. It’s just that I blew all my money off on computer parts. :’(
EDIT: I’m just gonna use the Black Mesa canyon wallpaper until I get any good at this (never).

Like I said, download GIMP. It’s nearly as functional as some of the heavy hitter image editors but it’s completely free.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
