Things you DON'T want to see in BM.

wut

I totally killed him before I got to the guard.

I played that part 5 minutes ago :hmph:

I played it a few weeks ago, and I distinctly remember seeing that sniper and throwing a grenade in there, which killed him. I think it might have taken two grenades though.

I don’t want to see the HL2 sprint system that’s been confirmed and is staying in the game.

I like my Half-Life canon, however I’m guessing this is the same situation as the episode 2’s de-coupling of the flash light and sprint, although in HL2 when Kleiner reads out notes about what’s new with the Mark V HEV and mentions the sprint function amongst the other new things.

I can’t help but see Black Mesa as canon to the rest of the HL series, it’s my fault, but yeah it’s an issue I’ll have to sort in my own head.

WRONG! Kliener simply reads the first line of the Mark V brief:
“The ‘Mark V Hazardous Environment Suit’ has been redesigned for comfort and utility.”

He is then interrupted by the citadel alert siren. He never mentions the sprint function. He only goes on to mention the fact that he has modified it to draw power from combine energy outlets.

(Yeah, I’m a bit of a HL nut)

To this day, that is my favorite Kleiner line ever. There’s just something hilarious about the timing of the interruption.

“‘The ‘Mark V Hazardous Environment Suit’ has been redesigned for comfort and utility.’ Oh dear.”

How can that be your favourite line?

“Now, where did I put that calculator?”

“Careful Lamarr, these lamps are quite hot!”

No it’s “Careful Lamarr, those lamps are quite fragile!”

no, in episode one he says “those lamps are quite hot”. You’re thinking of lamarr’s introduction in Red Letter Day.

“Just a moment, I can’t leave without Lamarr. Now where did she get to?”
“C’mon Doctor Kliener, we’ll get you another pet headcrab. There are plenty to go around.”
“There’s only one Hedy.”

I don’t want to see the crossbow pinning enemies to walls. That was a ridiculous effect IMO. I believe this has been discussed before but I’m too sick to search for it :S

Dr Kleiner never says lamps in HL2.

Oh right, I got the 2 mixed up.

Nevermind me then.

Feel relieved, they won’t

I dunno, there’s just something about the way he says it that makes me chuckle every time.

I forgot about that one! That might be my favorite.

I,m one of more recent half-life converts… i didnt discover HL2 until the orange box game out on xbox360, and after going through that a couple times i decided to get HL1 to see how it all began. better late than never right?

Since im kindof a pc gaming noob and i only have a laptop with Vista (shudder) i thought it would be tonnes easier to get the ps2 one… but when BM comes out i will have to get a source game, well worth the effort…

HL runs fine on vista. get it on PC, you’ll be doing yourself a favor. It was not meant to be played with thumbsticks.

He wants horsey snarks.

Also, I don’t want to see this being possible.

It won’t… At least not on that way.

The guy who made the video explored many of the original HL glitches to accomplish that speedrun. Glitches that will not exist in BM.

driveable vehicles.

aside from the tram, of course.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
