Things you DON'T want to see in BM.

The first time I played Half Life I only survived Questionable Ethics because a guard soloed the HECU in the lobby area while I was down around 35 health (or less, I had 4 after getting passed the houdeyes).

the crowbar is so old. i say the crowbar goes.

I say you go too.

I say that the violence on the zombie is toned down a little, i mean:

The HL2 zombies are freakin’ (Insert something kid-friendly here) compared to this.

And somebody explain why this zombie’s chest cavity has teeth, unlike the HL2 zombie.

They’re ribs. :hmph:

Black Mesa is darker and grittier.

Because the HL1 zombies had their ribs poking out in the same manner.

It seems Scorpion is the kind of person who doesn’t watch movies over PG-13.

It seems that Maxey is the kind of person who has nothing better to do than accuse people of being losers (To compensate for something, perhaps?)

Oh, and no; they’re NOT ribs:

And im asking for the violence to be toned down because it looks silly in a overly gory way. The HL2 zombies doesn’t have broken skulls, nor is half their faces rotten; besides, why only half the face?

Yeah, but these are not HL2 zombies.

And why do you hate awesome things?

I gave it a good look and honestly they’re just like the HL1 zombies but way more detailed and gruesome. Also the broken cranium makes sense, since the headcrab has to bite it off to access the brain.

I just want an reasonable explanation for why these do have teeth, unlike the HL2 variant, but if you’re so uneager to answer just say it.
And I just don’t think they’re awesome, but i guess im a minority here.

It still wasn’t in the sequel, though.

Nevermind, we’ll never come to an agreement. We both believe too much in our independent opinions to change them without inarguable proof.

Read my edit.

Also, those are ribs.

Have you actually played HL1?

I did.

Small, movable, pointy ribs?

Yes.

You do realize that the headcrab changes it’s host’s body to fit it’s needs, right? You don’t think it’d move some of the bones around to make a mouth? It can’t use the one in the head because that’s covered.

Yes they moved. In the Office Complex chapter, right before you get into the big freezer level, you can see a couple of zombie eating dead people. You can see that their chest cavity moves and is in fact where they put the human meat.

Now, it’s possible that during the zombification process, the ribs may have been repurposed as makeshift teeth, but the point is, that zombie model is just a vastly more detailed version of the HL1 zombie.

Small? They’re mostly obscured by flesh.
Movable? Well, people do have muscles that can move bodyparts. Plus, the zombies are mutated, remember?
Pointy? Ever seen a bone that’s broken off? Of course they’re pointy!

[EDIT] doubleninja’d

If your torso was cut open in a similar way, and the sternum was either broken or removed, breathing in deeply & stretching ones arms back would probably look quite similar to a vertical mouth opening and closing, depending on how visible the bones are made. Pulling ones arms forward however, would be quite hard.

In the animation above, some of the ‘teeth’ look too low on the torso to be ribs, and it’s safe to assume BM’s rendition are supposed to be teeth. Then again, I’ve really stopped caring how they go about these things ever since I saw their Alien Grunt design. Nothing they could do could tick me off more than that.

Both have ribs :hmph:

God damn this discussion is pedantic.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
