I don’t want to see the shotgun cock so quickly after firing two rounds at once, as it does in this video
I remember in multiplayer the shotgun was quasi insta kill if you used the alternative fire at close range, and to compensate, I got the feeling it took a hint longer before you could shoot than if you had used the regular firing mode.
I get the impression that in the video it’s a double shot (since it gibs the ennemy immediately) and thought he had finished cocking quite quickly, if it’s this fast in mp it might be a tad unfair since you’d be able to mow down quite a few people in a small room.
i don’t want to see any HINT of a raminator in there.
it’s better this way. for all of us!!!
I don’t want to see the old style HL1 barnacles. It always irritated me how every barnacle drops 3 body parts when killed, usually a skull, leg/arm or chest gib. Is it really possible that every single barnacle manages to kill one person, even if it’s in an empty air vent maintenance shaft that no-one goes into?
and would scientists educated in theoretical physics really be dumb enough to run right into a barnacle’s tongue in an open space? they need to act more like hidden traps.
And if a barnacle manages to swallow someone, it shouldn’t deposit gibs if you kill it immediately afterwards… it would take time to digest a person. This would be a perfect opportunity for some of the gore lovers out there to see a corpse with the outer flesh stripped off fall down…
tbh i think barnacles are dumb altogether, like how did they even get there and grow so quickly after the resonance cascade? but they are a part of half-life i guess…
other things:
- Get rid of or fix the pointless floating crate room!
- remove the instant death punishment for touching a spinning vent fan. Either that or make the fans spin faster, so it’s more believeable.
- slow down the crowbar attack speed and up the damage, at least to HL2 speeds. Those things are damn heavy, theres no way u could swing one as fast as u can in HL1, even with an HEV suit…
- remove the interchangeability of mp5 and pistol ammo. Makes the pistol pointless, there are barely any underwater areas where you need it.
- rifle grenades need timed fuses, like real ones, so they dont blow up in your face.
- no annoying door squeak noise… why does every door in Black mesa sqeak the same?
And in general make the tech. more believable and interactive. I don’t want to see that dome generator with 2 buttons on the side of it,hidden up ladders, that leave you trapped when strange electricity prongs come out of the walls and enter it… doesn’t make any sense, and surely instead of a button push something more interactive could be used here?
Im sure i,ll think of some more later, i think ive said enough…
I don’t want to see any hint of NOT Raminator in there. I better be reminded of his presence every time I turn a corner.

I don’t want to see anything on spicyHam’s list with the exception of the crowbar.
What about long-range shooting? :meh:
I don’t want to see anything be changed so radically that it no longer reminds me of the original thing. I want to have a good time playing the mod and going “hey, I remember that from playing the original game!”
We’re all gay for Raminator.
You mean “We’re”? If you don’t, I don’t get it.
Yes I do mean “we’re”. Getting up 6 hours before you usually do can really mess with your writing skills.
I don’t want to see scientists bending their elbows when performing CPR. If they know even the most basic CPR/First Aid, they should know to keep the elbows straight and move down with the weight of their upper body.
That’s the only thing that’s ever peeved me in Half-Life. You’d think a giant research facility with all these hazardous areas/materials would properly train people on CPR and First Aid.
I don’t know if it’s been said before and I’m obviously too lazy to look it up, but I don’t want Ram’s buttocks in there.
Good call! i never noticed that.

I don’t want to see too little autosaves…
I played HL yesterday and after I died I could play the last 10 minutes of the game which I already played…
I think there are to mant autosaves.
I never notice. Quicksave people.
I don’t want to see clumps of enemies all together like in HL1. Much as I liked the game, it seemed strange to me how the enemies were placed lots in a small area, then nothing, then another group. I know that this was probably done to take account of the Goldsource engine limits, and there’s probably a thread somewhere saying the devs are changing this, but I found the pacing of HL2 to be hugely superior to HL1.
Really? I personally hated a lot of HL2’s sections. The airboat and buggy levels are among my least favourite gaming moments ever. On the other hand, isn’t large groups of enemies followed by some brief travelling and repeat the standard FPS formula?
