Sorry Brother, what can I say… I was simply ignorant of it - again, it is good to be brought up to speed - interesting becuase it undoes a wrongly held idea.

Remembering and learning from the past is important, but regretting it is unnecessary.

Regretting?
I agree that to some degree, history is what it is, but we learn from others. I can appreciate that we do well to look at things from a detached sort of way, but really? There must be somthing that has happened that lites you up?
nope.
If anything changed in history in any way, the chances of me (or anyone of us) happening would be naught.
therefore I am happy with everything in history.
Nazism pisses me off overall.
lmao. How come Germany never apologized for its actions or try to play a part in trying to fix the world they just destroyed? They should have at least tried to help the Jews settle somewhere else or maybe implement a native German Jew status into the country. Where if you were a native Germany Jew, you would get extra benefits that non native German Jews wouldn’t get e.g. be able to play uncensored video games.
Everyone hates the Nazi’s because they were racist, genocidal, and we fought against them. Everyone views them like they are pure evil in human form. They hate them so much they shun the swastika.
But then at the same time many of them praise the Soviet Union. They look at it as something awesome, many people love the Red Army, the hammer and sickle.
Thing is, the Soviets were actually WORSE than the Nazi’s. They killed even more of their own than the Nazi’s did. They FORCED people to either join the military and fight to the death, or be executed. The Red Army couldn’t even give everyone a gun, so they’d give one guy a gun, and one guy ammo, then order the ammo guy to pick up the gun when the first guy died. That’s right, they sent people into battle with the intention of letting them die! And people praise these fuckers?
The only reason the Soviet Union isn’t portrayed as pure evil was because they fought on our side. If we teamed up with the Nazi’s to fight against the Soviet Union, all those people would be running around with Swastikas and Iron Crosses instead.
Hell, General George Patton believed they would turn on us. He was so sure of it he said we should have launched a preemptive war on them before they could grow into a threat. We didn’t do that, and they turned on us just as he said they would, thus the Cold War began.
Scientists that covered up the true reason for the extinction of the dinosaurs.
Those fuckers really get under my skin.
Someguy, I think you can agree that the way they killed all those people puts Nazi Germany in a slightly worse place, no?
Sure, the Soviets caused millions to die, but the Nazis did so systematically, and indiscriminatingly, whereas the Soviets sent everyone to their deaths.
Ehm, Stalin caused a famine in Ukraine in the '30s, killing millions. He did the same to the Cossacks, killing nearly 4 million of them that way. He deported hundreds of thousands of “anti-Soviet” ethnical groups (and even wiping out entire groups). He ordered the capturing and execution of the intellectual upper class in east Poland in order to get a larger grip on the regions. He did the same with numerous of other (now former) Soviet nations.
During WWII, the Red Army killed, raped and mutilated millions of german civilians. They raided and pillages entire villages.
He also put down camps to hold “inferior” people that didn’t live according to the Soviet rules (sound familiar?), nearly 2 millions died there.
I’d say that Stalin was a bigger war criminal than Hitler.
Russian people were just totally badass and didn’t give a shit, most of the russian war movies are way more interesting than american ones.
Holy hell, why didn’t I know that. Thanks Bolteh.
Not defending him, but he actually got an Iron Cross for bravery in WW1.
I don’t believe that anyone who does that many things of that variety can ever possibly be considered a coward.
hello? Israel? do you know how much the German gives to Israel? Between The vast amounts of money or Military equipment sent over there, they are well consumed by their guilt. Germans today are probably the biggest supporter of the “be nice to everybody or else your a Nazi” mentality.
It’s kind of sad really, being as they are forced to have guilt for the misdeeds of their ancestors. I’m angry that in every WWII war movie, besides Band of Brothers, they portray the Germans like their monsters, where in reality, they were soldiers fighting a war. Not every German was involved with the mistreatment of Jews, Not even every member of the SS was, The Waffen-SS for instance had nothing to do with Jews.
I’m not saying that the Jews shouldn’t be compensated, but the Israeli Government is just riding the gravy train, which isn’t very moral for a government founded on religious principles.

My Grandfather was in the US Army and liberated Italy during WWII, yet i had other relatives on the other side, fighting against the Allies.
i was glad to see Band of Brothers do both sides of WWII justice, something other American film makers lack.
Because that worked out so well the last time.
