A taste of a few new screenshots. The game is supposed to be covered in another magazine soon, which is what these are from and we should get full sized versions then. Looks incredible.
Those are using the new DX11 renderer. Hope it doesn’t take too long to see those and more in proper big screens.
Yep,those look much better,it’s a shame they are showing it behind closed doors at E3.
That was fucking brilliant!
I’m not even a fan and yet I was impressed. That’s right, humans are the worst kind of monsters.
That’s fucking terrible…
I mean, look at how they beat the girl.
Worse things happen.
I’ve never been a big fantasy RPG fan, but one of these days I really need to get around to trying out this series.
Well, there goes “next-gen” … where’s my PS5?
Close to maxing them out with current engine technology. Don’t forget the software side of things always gets better with time.
^I’m not expecting much. Next gen are pretty much PCs, there’ll probably be a bit of optimization that can still be done but CDPR knows how to code for x86, they’ve been doing it since they were formed. I don’t think it’s a stretch that they could use all the power of the system right off the bat considering its hardware and architecture.
Edit: I think that better multicore support is really the only thing that could be gained from this and I doubt that’ll come very soon if at all.
The GPGPU tech on the PS4 has barely been explored yet, not to mention properly exploiting all that ram. Expect games to become more complex in terms of engine technology within a few years. These launch games will seem like nothing compared to the games that we’ll see in the late generation of games.
The other big thing is going to be game size. Since Sony and Microsoft are both utilizing Blu Ray technology for their discs (25-50GB per disc), this means PC games are going to get a lot beefier in terms of memory requirements. I imagine the first 100GB game is not far off.
Damn, I gotta get me a few more terabytes if that happens.
This plus the larger amounts of RAM / VRAM should hopefully mean much higher resolution / less heavily-compressed textures and cutscenes.
(Not looking forward to downloading (and storing) those huge files, though)
I’m actually going to have to manage what games I have installed and not just have them all installed if games get that big.
It’s even worse if you want to keep all your game files backed up someplace. (In case of Steam outage, basically)
Current Steam folder size: 532GB
