Would have been nice if Steam warned me that the Skyrim Hi-Res DLC weights 4.4 GB. I’m on a capped band, fuck, and I can’t stop the download.

Why can’t you?

Because Steam. I can’t stop the download and play Skyrim without it.

Maybe download it a public library or starbucks or something and copy it to a data storage medium?

No. The DLC is now attached to my account, and the only way to remove it is to launch the game and remove it. Which of course is impossible because it’s downloading.

As much as I love Valve and Steam sales and all, IMO the Steam client is just so bad. It’s slow, buggy, does lots of weird shit and you can’t do anything about it. Oh and it doesn’t allow you top download and play two different games at the same time.

Can’t you access a DLC menu from the properties menu in steam?

Yes but you can’t do anything about them except access their store page. Trust me I’ve tried.

crack skyrim and play it sans steam

Ah yes, I see what you mean. I wish Steam treated DLC as independent downloads.

I wish people played better games than Skyrim.

But yeah, the DLC thing is pretty shitty. If you buy the F.E.A.R. pack on Steam, it has to install Extraction Point and Perseus Mandate along with the base game every time, which means you get to sit through a 16GB download.

I think F.E.A.R. 2 Reborn will also download automatically with the retail game. Well, what if I don’t WANT the DLC right now, and just the vanilla game? Think of that, Steam?

Either way, I always just end up leaving my computer running overnight to finish the DL.

I never turn my computer off.

I do because sometimes the little warning that windows is going to restart your computer to “finish applying important updates” pops up under my game and I don’t notice it.

JOAKIM MOGREN GUYS

I turn off my PC every night since it’s loud and it’s got an SSD for fast boot times.

Although if I removed my GPU and all the HDDs, it would be only the power supply fan making noise, since I still don’t have a CPU fan.

also it uses power for no reason

why would you not turn off your computer

They probably aren’t paying 0.20$/kWh

who cares what they’re paying, it’s a waste

but waste is the basis of western civilisation, how dare you oppose conservative consumer values
