Reading these forums after the launch makes me wonder; Why are there so many players that doesn’t seem to have played any Valve game? Crouch-jumping is in every single one of their games and people bitch as crazy about.
Why is so many interested in a remake of a game they’ve never played?

With Xen’s release, the forums will turn into a frenzied rush of anarchic self-indulgence and unfettered hedonism fueled by the ravenous cravings of posters given everything they’ve ever fantasied like some sort of passionate candle incandescing in the cold, black emptiness of space struck by an insignificant but overwhelming desire to ignite the world.
There are so many people who can’t run the mod due to lag, stuttering, skipping, crashes and visual bugs, and yet it works perfectly 30-60FPS from start to finish without a single crash or visual bug on my 5 year old IBM business laptop with a 32mb x1300 Radeon Mobility.
What graphics level are you running? I run the game maxed out and I usually get a solid 30fps. If I could get the game to use both cores it would be more stable, though. -_-
I’m able to run it pretty well on my laptop, it only crashed when i spawned around 100 snarks, set them to deal damage when they die and set them loose on scientists. It hasn’t crashed during normal gameplay, and only lagged at the very end because of the portal effects and controller’s beam spam.
I reinstalled Winamp because Zune has been bothering me for months. It keeps “forgetting” where songs on my playlists are, but when I play them normally from my library, it works fine. Odd that it would work outside of the playlist, but not in the playlist…
I am quite impressed with the new visualization options. And the fact that I finally have a computer that can run them full screen without stuttering 
Also, 1920x1080 vs 1280x1024, they look prettier.

I did suffer quite serious FPS drops with the counter going into red where particles were involved.
how did you handle particles?
I’ve had some stutters but nothing too bad. It was annoying at the beginning with the voices being choppy when it stuttered though. Never had crashing.

No FPS drops for me at all, but I had a couple crashes in Surface Tension when my health got too low. Had to godmode to make it stop.
Just read the news that AMD Radeon HD8800 series have the codename Oland(Öland). I just find it funny…
FYI, AMD codenames for GPU’s is Island names e.g. Tahiti, Cape Verde, Pitcairn etc.
Also fun fact, ‘Ö’ is an one letter word which means Island, so Öland actually means Islandland or Island country.
Just finished the game. Lambda Core climax was nerve wrecking, it was great.
Overall, the entire thing was great. Exactly what it should have been, except for a few things.
I feel regular jump mechanics should have been kept the same as in HL2. For example, the part right before the rocket launch (the part in the leaked trailer) was quite annoying because it was a chore to jump over those tracks, making it hard to run around.
Enemy reaction times feel very quick. It’s impossible to get a first shot, and sometimes the enemy can hit you even before you can see them. In the part with the soldiers rappelling down from the osprey for example, when you walk up the garage entrance, they’ll be able to shoot you before you get high enough to even see them.
Surface Tension seems unnecessarily short. Scenes where Xen forces win from HECU are cut, and the reason why the HECU pull out in Forget About Freeman seems under emphasized.
Lambda Core overall could do with more Xen creatures. More surprises.
That’s it. Other than that, it was absolutely fucking great.

My boss is back from his three week long two week vacation. I need to get paid, but don’t see it happening within a timely fashion. I should be looking for a new job instead of BSing here. I should have been looking for the last three weeks. I should have been looking years ago…
Also, I feel like I am closer now to getting a girlfriend than I have been in years (decades?), but it is still so far out of my grasp, and I can’t seem to reach my goal…
and then there are the money troubles that come with my first set of problems getting in the way of accomplishing my second set of problems. Way too much going on at once…
